stuffed ifs steeringbox

okay so my ifs steering box has decided to play up its running crossover steering but now will only seem to assist left but not right. any one got any ideas on what it might be or should i just send it in and get it fixed and pay the money?

Roughly $400 (last time I asked) at BHSS now at Capalaba for a complete rebuild of the box is cheap insurance.
This is where mechanics send them to be done ;)

if you can work a cnc machine im sure you can rebuild a power steering box all by yourself

just pull it appart and have a look. By the sounds of it there will be a problem with the bi directional valve. It may only need a simple clean up and recondition. A seal kit only costs about $60 from most 4wd parts suppliers.

stripped it down and found nothing wrong so ive put a seal kit in while i was at it

okay after a frustrating day of refitting the box its still the same. but i should have stated to start with that it did work a bit to the right but is just heavy

for any one interested its all sorted now and working after doing a full rebuild and still not working then finally found the pin out of the torshion rod was missing . even the steering shop missed this knocked one in and its all good

go to the wreckers and get a new one but dont pay anymore than about 150bucks my local wrecker has atleast 4 of them on cars at the moment
