Ideas for better fuel economy of 4.5ltr GU

Post by hynesy »

Guys.

I was wondering if any one had any ideas for getting better economy from my 99 4.5ltr GU. Currently average 18 - 20lt/ 100

I have a snorkel and K&N filter already. Run 285/75r16 mud tyres and only 2inch of lift. Other than that bog stock

I have heard mixed responses about exhaust modifications.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Yes I know the best option would be a diesel motor but the budget doesn't allow for it at the moment.

Cheers

Turbo it park it in the garage and buy a prius to go to work in
OR
Pull 2 injector leads off , it may be under powered but can save fuel .
OR
Something constructive , gas injection ! the only way I can think of to make it cheaper to run as these things always drink no matter what you do :drinking:
Nup not telling
you'll have to find out yourself

Snorkel and exhaust go hand in hand. A dyno tune and chip might help too.

I looked pretty seriously at a 4.8 last year, and to be honest 18L/100 seams pretty good for them. If you search my topic on 4.8 patrol fuel useage, some people were getting 30+/100 with mods, and average was 20-25L/100

You could always try a hiclone ;)
