My pajero

Post by 4x4boi »

Hello,

Well im new to this site, knew about for a bit now but didnt want to join till i get my first 4wd. After a while i went with the pajero. Like the look of it and heard its a pretty good 4wd. So i bought a LWB 3 liter pajero. Pretty much stock yet, planning on cranking up the torsion bar tommorw. But my question would be, what do you guys recommend for the rear spring? Spacer, or new rasied springs, or i even heard that the patrol springs will give it a lift. Wanna add some other goodies to make it a good 4wd, just dont know what to do with it first :D my buget is max $3,000 that i can spend on parts.

Thanks for the help in advance and just want to say hi to everyone on the site.

Welcome to the site

Yes patrol coils will give you a 2"heavy duty lift.

With a 3 grand budget i would be starting with suspension, decent tyres, and either a front locker or a exhaust upgrade. It all depends on what you want out of it and how you will be using it.

Mate you can expect 3-4in of lift out of a standard set of gq-gu rear coils in your pajero.

I got 3-1/2in lift out of mine when i put them in.

And you will need to do a drop stop cut and torsion bar crank to get about 2-1/2..... lift in the front.

Then you will need to do a ball joint flip to get you camber back.

It's all do-able in the garage.

Good luck.

Hello.

Well i cranked the torsion bars up today, pretty happy how far it went up. Its not stiitng on bump stops tho, its about 1cm from the bump stops. Will try to find some patrol springs around here and than put them in. But like you said i can get about 3inch lift with patrol springs i will need to take out the torsion bars and turn them a few notches to get more lift, am i right about this part? And yea about tyres, was thinking og oging with 35s but heard that people are leaning towards 33 :D

Thank again for the help

Yeah mate works a treat, just done it to my Triton. I moved mine prolly 1/5 the way around (prolly 4-5 splines) and had to get the jack under the bolt which ya do up, then jacked it up to flex the torsion bar so the bolt went back in enough to put the nuts on...then started cranking it up....didn't have to go far at all and the front end was maxxed out.

yea ill give it a go tomorrow morning and see how i go. But something i have never seen on a car, I just bought new brake pads for the pajero and when i removed the front tyres the front left side only had 1 pad in it!!! Now either the old owner didnt know what he was doing or someone messed up something somewhere:D Also another question i have: body lift, can you make the blocks yourself or you have to buy them? How much body lift can you put in it before you have to extend brake lines etc.....??

thanks for all your help.
