Tough Tracks Round 2
Moderator: evanstaniland
x2 Amen to that brotha, they'd have ALOT more competitors if rego wasn't an issuejohnsy86 wrote:id have a crack at competing but im with ben on this one its the only thing stopping me as i refuse to pay rego on a vehicle that doesnt see road duties at all and im sure im not the only one.
Insurance has wrecked these events...

WRT the rego thing, if you use a vehicle that is at least 30 year old, you can get a discounted limited use rego
The Vehicle I'm using for this qualifies for cheap rego as of December this year .....Just I have to decide If I want to give up being able to drive it around when I feel like it

Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
The reason the vehicle must remain registered is because you need to get the "Competition" or "Rally" Extension on your CTP. Which in many cases is free or a small cost of $20 or so.
This allows the club to keep entry fees low so as not to have to cover the ever soring costs of insurance on the events.
I understand it does sting though, but you don't have to limit yourself to Tough Tracks only.
There are other competitions you can enter the vehicle in also, & sponsorship dollars if you can chase them.

the only other comp I need rego for is Logan challange.patrol2pathy wrote:The reason the vehicle must remain registered is because you need to get the "Competition" or "Rally" Extension on your CTP. Which in many cases is free or a small cost of $20 or so.

I've got sponsers and they are awesome but VERY VERY few will ever give money or pay for anything. They just can't see there return in that and I understand that.
I'm just struggling too see the value in rego
If there's an accident rego, ctp and rally cover isn't going too save any ones butt. The club is well aware of tgis too.
For those that are going too say stop whinging if you don't like it don't compete, I'mnot competing in tough tracks any time soon.
I'm just saying why I think your competitor numbers are down. If the rules change I'll seriously look at competitng agian.
Still thinking about getting 35's tho..... Lol

the insurance is outdated. There is a reason for a lot of events going away from rego. For in the case an incident does occur, the insurance will not hold due to the extensive modifications on the vehicles. There is no way that these cars could bolt 33s on and drive on the road, and being legal. I think it would be a good idea for the club to dig a bit deeper, to save themselves as individuals in the instance an injury or death is sustained.
yeah i also thought this would be the case as usually insurance companys will find any excuse not to pay. im no expert but just trying to help a good club/competition stay strong.Havoc Racing wrote: For in the case an incident does occur, the insurance will not hold due to the extensive modifications on the vehicles.
Lj80 tuff truck "mr Grumpy"
Top COLD weekend. The 2 last tracks were TOPS - The 1st one was a little easy for everyone. Had a ball and came out unbroken. (Just a blown tyre on the way up on the trailer).
Big Thanks to the "Tough Tracks 4x4 Club" for putting on the weekend.
A little slack to the amount of competitors this time.
Glad to be home and warm again.
Big Thanks to Mick (My Navi + sponsor). He did a great job to guide me through some tough tracks.
Thanks to the competitors, everyone is getting very competitive now and making you think a bit harder and smarter and pushing the trucks a little harder.
The tracks were well thought out and not to dangerous.
Great work to everyone involved.

Was indeed a good weekend, thanks to everyone who organised/run the event, and to all our fellow competitors (Shame there weren't more of us).
Now to spend the next few months trying to fix my poor bent car . There is a chance she will look very different before round 3
Only pictures I took were of saturday mornings very very cold frost

Sorry I only got pics of the first track in challenge, then my camera died and I became preoccupied drinking
First track was piss easy it seemed, 2nd track had a stupid hill climb and busted a few things. Last track was awesome
