A/T tyre question

Post by gumtree »

im getting new tyres soon for my vit. i want a A/T that is good on road and in the wet and that is ok offroad and wont pop going over a couple rocks. i have 2 in mind:
kumho ROAD VENTURE KL 41
&
pirelli SCORPION A/T

can anyone give me feedback on these two if they have used them before, good or bad. I have done google searches and reviews and narrowed it down to these two so far.

thanks

I'd also recommend having a look at the Toyo Open Country all terrains. Been running them for 2 years now, awesome on road, very quiet, never lost traction. And have done everything offroad I've thrown at it including some serious mud. They are also wearing very well. My mechanic put me onto them after he got over 100,000k's out of a set including two cape trips.

I have the same in a 5-rib, and they're tops. FYI, 250ea fitted for a 31x10.5x15.

i dont think mickey T's come in 215/75R15 which is what im after as my daily driver. They would be good otherwise and Toyo's open country i have a set of 235's for my sand tyres. They are ok but all reports ive seen toyo's perform the worst and are one of the expensive ones. They aren't strong as 2 have side walls cracking from deflating and one has a bulge on the inner wall i just saw. they do work well in sand thou.

for longevity id go kumho. Dad got 300000 out of a set on his lux and currently runs them on his 75 cruiser. My 80 has 2 pirelliis on the front and ive had no probs so far but i think the kumhos have a slightly more aggressive tread

I am sorry but i do not believe that.
300,000kms out of a set of tyres on a 4wd?
People brag about 100,000kms.

Is that even possible?

gumtree and obviously for the best price in tyres talk to Ryano from Fourbies. He might be a man lover but he is the king of 4wd tyres! and if your in bris hes closeby.

Great pirelli stoped making the AT and replaced them with a HWY tyre they call allterrain ATR. its not aggressive at all. not happy jan!

maybe i should clarify a bit that was about 6 trips around aus and all freeway km's. Never really went off the tarmac

Yeah, but 300,000kms?? I'm lucky to get 65,000 out of the tyres on my Territory, and that never goes offroad. Must be a bloody hard compound to get that sort of milage.

maybe look at the maxxis 751 bravo

i have run them in a 31x10.5x15 and they were great. so much so that i went up a size 33x12.5x15 at $255 a tyre. the MT 4 ribs were $300 a tyre and the 5 were $310.

use them every day on road. playing at 4x4 parks. fraser and moreton. never had any problems. nice quiet smooth A/T !!

Thats not a bad price, you have to love maxxis for there pricing. I have just been quoted $255 a tyre for mt 5 rib in 31x10.5x15, i wanted the 4 rib but they dont do them in the 31" tyre. I also got quoted $265 for the deep cepick fc2 which is alot better then the 5 rib, going to shop around for pricing of them now.

Mark.
Its not cool, unless it's got boost :)
