Re: LED Light bars
I've got a couple here from OZLED in brisbane, ill take some pics tonight and post up how blinding they are, just it being on in the daylight is quiet impressive. There a nice solid extruded ally housing with multiple ways of mounting included in the housing, they dont have the distance that a conventional spotlight does, but throw a very bright broad beam, as i said ill post some pics up tonight, ill take some of the led rocklights while im at it, 1200 lumens or so from 4 led's.
It consists of 4 banks of 10 3watt led's, havn't got a tape measure handy but its around 1000-1100mm long, and also have a smaller one which is 2 banks of 3, which is about 150mm long, and the 1100mm one will come in more than a few dollars under $900.
Thats just my flash reflecting the light is not on.
This is a virtually unbreakable rock light available from the same place i got the others from

Re: LED Light bars
Its a bit hard to get good photos, to show light pattern/distances etc with my average camera, all in all it spreads a good amount of light, more than i was expecting from led's. From the info/specs, i would say the ridgid (snake racing) ones are better although only in reflector/optic design and not because the led's are inferior etc. Especially not considering the huge price difference between the 2 units. These units are lots of 4, x 10, and 1 row, where as the ridgids are 2 rows so a 48inch has 2x the led's of this unit.
I sat it on the roof of my work ute just to see how it would throw light as far as reflecting off the bonnet and annoying me, but that seems to be good.
I have other pics, but they make it look like a cheap 5 dollar flash light as to my camera being crap, it won't see more than 20-30metres and even at 30 metres it shows it as dull, when the light is far from dull.

Re: LED Light bars
Killalux brought one of his LED light bars around when he wired my truck. Hooked the LED light bar up to my 4bys battery they were easily out shone my head lights on high beam. Put out a nice white beam with a really good spread. Not sure about distance as the paddock is tree lined, they did however project light further than my head lights. When $$$ allow will be putting some on the front of m 4by for sure.
Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.

Re: LED Light bars
There was a thread on them on ih8mud and a guy did a good photo comparison to his HID's. When photo'd from behind to show how they throw they were as good or better than his HID's just maybe not the distance. Mind you he had the biggest one you cna get which was a couple of feet long
Re: LED Light bars
I wouldn't say it's a fair comparison. The HIDs are mounted at headlight level whilst the LEDs are mounted at roof top level so will give a better spread of light. The LEDs do look too bright though. I think a more spread beam is better.Red Dog 4x4 wrote:http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/ ... t-bar.html There you go
Some people have way too much money.
Re: LED Light bars
I'd say it's still relevent as both positions represent the most common mounting positions for both applications. There's not really anywhere else that would be right for mounting such a large light bar.TheOtherLeft wrote:I wouldn't say it's a fair comparison. certainly agree about the cost though, you'd want to spend all your driving hours in the dark to get value for money.

Re: LED Light bars
anyone got any links to a more reasonably priced larger sized led bar? I would beinterested in runnning one on gthe truck, the high beam is good and they run a hella spot type light as a second high beam loght that are great for distance and I have a set of narva's spot\spread which are ok, but I like a good spread thats close and shines with limited shadow to the side, these led things seem to throw the light I am after but $1500 is a lot to spend
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!
Re: LED Light bars

Re: LED Light bars
I grabbed a small one approx 6" off paul at kustom kages for the bus and it is perfect for me. He had some spread and some spot so to speak. He is a member on here and has a few in stock, he had one the width of my patrol roof. Really good prices as well. pm him maybe.

Re: LED Light bars
Well my 22" bar turned up today all i can say is WOW This light as good as my HID's i will get some photos over the weekend but all i can say is these are impesive lights.
Re: LED Light bars
Yes I can supply them. They put out a very good close range light. They will not throw the distance like a good spotlight will, But they give plenty of light over a short but wide distance, (still throw further than normal high beam) Making them a perferct light for more low speed 4wding work, or good suplement to a good set of driving lights to see off to the sides of the road.
They are very compact making them great for a roof light, or to allow more airflow through the grill compard to normal lights.
They are nearly bullet proof, aluminium housing. Sealed to IP67 rating for dust and water.
Available from 8" to 52", can also get double height in the smaller lengths.
PM for pricing, 32" $1200 plus postage

Re: LED Light bars
I know that they are all new-ish on to the market, but why the freak are they so expensive for?
If a 5w LED can be bought off who-flung-dung china shop for $2.00, and a decent TENROD/Osram 5w LED costs around $5.00, why oh why are they $800-$1200 a bar?
Yeah, I know, give it 12 months and China will flog the market and they'll be $20.00 a pop on ebay.

Re: LED Light bars
its not the electronics. its more to do wuth the specially designed housing such as that of the rigid light. good castings don't come cheap. plastic led housings in the 'bar' application won't last too long if used a great deal.bushy555 wrote:I know that they are all new-ish on to the market, but why the freak are they so expensive for?

Re: LED Light bars
Got a 2x3 mini bar (6 in total) a pair would be great on the bar, takes up minimal room and fits anywhere, for about $135.
