hey guys i got a 97 diesel pajero and its giving me flashing lights syndrom.
now i have searched and searched. so far i have replaced the solinoids,vac lines,checked the diff sensor, the actuator shaft and ecu. cleaned all the connectors on the transfercase. any body got any suggestions

When mine was playing up I got underneath the vehicle and slid back the rubber cover on the actuator shaft so I could see it and then got someone in the drivers seat and got them to move it in and out of 2H to 4H and back again.
Engine needs to be running so you need to yell prtty loud to get them to hear you
Then you can see if that part is working. You can also try and move it by hand if you pull the air lines off.
Could pull the air lines off and check there is vacuum - it will change from one line to the other as it goes between 2H and 4H.

thanks njv6. we tried that on the weekend and the shaft moves and there is vac at the lines. any other ideas. im taking the car to mitsubishi on thursday for a diagnostic test for $55 hopefully they find something or im burning the car lol

If the shaft is definitely moving the whole way, then sounds like actuator, vac lines are all good, and that the system is pretty much working, so should be fine to drive around like that.
So you said you checked the sensor switch that screws into the diff housing? Check it again maybe? Should just unscrew from the diff housing, and unplug from a connection on the frame. Hook a multi-meter and check the switch is opening/closing. Last likey thing if that's all fine is wiring - I'd be suspicious of the plug/socket where the sensor switch connects onto the vehicle loom. It's quite low down perhaps as filled with crap and corroded a bit...

PJB yeah we pulled the switch out and ran a test on it. in perfect working order. checked the wiring all over the place and checked ever conncetor to. but yeah havent done a vac test on the actuator it self i should try that. hopefully mitsubshi find something and its an easy fix
