40MM fuel hose Brisbane Northside

Post by Josh n Kat »

Hey guys setting up twin tanks in my patrol and wondering if anyone can help me with availabilty of 40mm fuel hose for the filler neck?
Spoken to the mob down the road from work who "specialise" in hose and fittings and they said that 40mm is an odd size for fuel hose.
Anyone got any recommendations on suppliers?
Also thinking of justusing some piping and limiting how much fuel hose i need to a couple of inches to join the tank and filler......
Any suggestions or recommendations would be great!

I used radiator hoses and had no problems at all. I took them off after 12 months and they looked brand new.

Another option is the filler and hose from a Nissan 280zx. It is very easy to remove. (I have 3 at home) and they also have a rubber hose to attach it to the tank. The hose has a single bend at the bottom and is about 400mm long and the filler neck is about the same length. Maybe go for a walk in a wrecking yard and just see if there is anything to match.

So how much reach do you reckon you get with a 280z hose?
I'm running a patrol ute sub tank which has the filler inlet in the middle of the tank and cause of the way i'm running the tank it means the tank inlet will be in the middle of the truck behind the cab so got a fair way to go!

The hose is about 40cm long and the filler neck is about the same length. I'm at work so I can't measure it. But there are heaps of cars out there that you could have a look at. Perhaps 2 shorter hoses with a metal pipe in between as an interum until you can find something more suitable.

The radiator hose worked a treat and didn't degrade at all over 12 months.

Yeah i was wondering about the radiator hose thing.
Wasn't too sure about it and the catalouge for the hose did say not suitable for fuel and oil.
Not calling you a liar just saying is all :P

Yeah I was worried at the time too but I kept checking it before and after each comp I did and I didn't notice any degredation at all over the 12 months or so.

thank's mhgill.
sorry toughnut but i think i might stick to the correct hose type for this one, just dont want it flogging out in a couple of years time.

I did just find out that my mate has a pipe bender so gonna get some 40mm pipe and make a flashy bit of filler neck! Thus limitting the amount of expensive fuel spec hose i need to buy! I really should figure out how to post pics on this site and show everyone what i've got and gonna do.

ok had a chat to Tony Powell this afternoon and they have 40mm ID fuel hose!
It is $35 per meter thou so think spending 20 bucks on a length of pipe and bending it up is a MUCH cheaper option than buying a meter and a half of fuel hose!

Thanks for your help guys
