G16A Auto onto a G16B Motor
Re: G16A Auto onto a G16B Motor
Yes. it will bolt up. There isn't much in the way of wiring to deal with. You need to wire the interlock(?) so it won't start in gear and the light for the selector. Gwagensteve and I have just put one in behind a G16A and he has done one behind a Baleno G16B as well.

Re: G16A Auto onto a G16B Motor
The older 3sp is a non elec box and the 4sp is controlled by an ecu . From what I understand all the ecu's have the outputs for an auto but the plug may not have pins for them . Either have to swap pins from unused wires or another plug , they just clip out . I have only opened auto ecu's so no first hand exp .
The ecu needs two signals from the engine ecu to operate correctly , water temp and a throttle position . This is not just a tee off of the sensor on the throttlebody but a conversion within the ecu that is feed to the auto .
Should be easy enough to wire up if you have the ecu etc . I am not sure how the box would go without the two signals , I expect you could live without the water temp but the throttle position would be a pain as it would have no kick down amoungst other things . Anyone tried it ?
Go the 4sp if you can .
Cheers

Look up aw4 (4 speed auto) lots of info about on it.

look up A44DL aka AW372L aka 03-72L (found on pajeros among other things)
According to some research I did this autos should be the same as the AW4 but with out the electrics (still have lockup TC)
I belive the AW4 is the A44DE aka AW372LE aka 03-72LE
