LPG issues? Please help!

Post by sickgm »

Hey guys!

I have a 99 model 4.5lt cruiser running a standard impco gas system. I was experiencing flat spots on hill climbs when doing about 100kph and the auto would gear down.

I changed plugs, leads and had a gas mixture adjustment and thatnseemed to fix it for a little while. Now that I have driven to brissy it has appeared again?

Can anyone suggest anything? I am considering changing it over to a injected gas system as I believe that the tuning will correct this problem? But i am not sure?

Not sure if this helps but I have similar issues. I usually pull horse floats between 2 and 3 ton. I never tow on gas because it is seriously down on power and keeps running the auto in 2nd gear on any type of hill.

When I am NOT towing it seems pretty good on gas except for slightly down on the top end on hills. I am also considering alternate options including direct injection, chev diesel or turbo diesel rover disco...

Apparently direct injection can provide more power than petrol. Also you already have LPG tanks installed. Let me know how you go investigating this one because I would like to know who, where , how much.

Chev Diesel - I can't afford to take the rig off the road for the time taken to fit up.

Disco series 2 - Cheap and good on fuel but... well there is a list of reasons not to...
