G'day all.
I'm trying to work out the best way to convert the Mav to Auto.
I know this Auto is strong, what i'm worried about is the Ratios.
5 speed Ratios: 4L80E Ratios
1st 4.061:1 1st 2.48:1
2nd 2.357:1 2nd 1.48:1
3rd 1.490:1 3rd 1.00:1
4th 1.000:1 4th 0.75:1
5th 0.862:
If i go this Auto the POS will be able to move with a 1st of 2.48:1?, how would the two compare on the Road\Off road?
Not sure if it matters but, the diff's have 4.88's in them and it has 43% reduction in the Transfer, i know it will run away down hill, but that's what brakes are for

4L80E behind a RB30et
Re: 4L80E behind a RB30et
The torque converter should take care of things. If not the turbo 700 has a lower first gear. Castle main rod shop make adpators for T350, T400 and T700 gearboxs
Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.

Re: 4L80E behind a RB30et
ive got a 4L60 (non-e) in a coaster bus and it goes very very well of the mark...on the highway the final ratio could be more or i could put smaller wheels on it as the wind resistence plays a big factor with an economical overdrive...
ive considered the three speed but too much fiddling to make it cruise at 100k's
my preferance would be for a 4L65e, that is a stronger box...

Sweet thank's for the answer
I did'nt relise the Torque converter helped that much
If it's good enough to move a Coaster bus, it will be good enough for a cut down Shorty

... best of luck with a T7... buy a spare box ($450), manual and save heaps overhauling it, they are a notorious solution
