im new on this forum so dont worry if this sounds like a bad idea...
i want to build a 100in land rover. this is what i have:
1x series 2a ex-army land rover troopy
lots of rangie cassis
1x 2h land cruiser and 5spd out of a 75 series
1x rear chassis setion of a 90 defender (brand new)
a set of 35s

with the body i want to shorten it in the middle and in the rear to suit the chassis. and put the defender bonnet and doors on it. thats the body done..sorta

with the running gear i want to use the standard 2h as it has no leaks and has been rebuilt, adn went well in the cruiser untill the rear decided to meet a tree.

with the suspention i want to do away with the rangie. On the front i want to do a four/five link setup. the same as you see in the rear of a patrol; but with extended arms for travel.
on the rear i want to put a triangulated 4-link setup with hte arms extended for extra travel. and to top it of i want to use the rover diffs only for the stud pattern. so i can interchange all my wheels.

my problems i have encounterd so far is:
with the hand brake
with the mesurement to shorten the body
and the mesurements for the suspetion front and rear


any help , ideas or answers and comment will be greatly appriciated.
so for the mean time im just going to have to rip around the bush in my 253 powerd shorty

Hello rustysrangierecks and welcome to outerlimits4x4.

Hmm - sounds like a big mission.

The Toyota transfer case should have a park break drum on the rear output shaft (my 60 2h have one). Just use that break.
Do you want to use a Range Rover chassis? Then look for measurements in google / rover forums for "land rover hybrid". It is done 1000 times.
The Range Rover rear suspension setup is pretty good and needs only little mods to be superb.
The front needs a bit more work to get it going, but there are three link setups around and they are not hard to build by your own.

If you want it tuff, i would use the complete diffs out of your 75 series.
Toyota rims are cheap and it is just heaps stronger.

But your problem will be the length and the weight of the 2H. The Rover engine bays are not very long and the weight balance will be poor.
I would just use a Range Rover, stuck your series body on it and put the toyota diffs under it.
The Rover V8 is good for off-road and very cheap to get and you will keep the Rover transfer case.
All quick done and then you have lots of time to make the suspension flexing.

ive been hunting on google and other forums but i cant seem to find any thing besides photos and write up of the vehicle..
and with the 60s i cant seem to find one with the hand brake on the 'box. would one out of a fj series fit??

all i have left of the cruiser is motor and box. the rest has been sold or used and i dont really want to waste a good motor and 'box.. plus using all rover gear is a bit boring

The 2H is a good stong motor but it will be hard to get em in the engine bay. A V8 is only long like a 4 cylinder.
And then you get the longer high/low range with the Toyota transfer case.
This Toyota low/high range ratio in combination with the 3.54:1 Rover super long ratio diffs and 35 inch tyres...
Sorry, but it will not work - not even with a low rev diesel. And the 2H will rip the Rover diffs in standard form apart all day long with 35".

But a Rover transfer case with Toyota diffs and 35 inch tyres is perfect.

And yes you are right - no park break on the transfer case. The HJ80 DX have a park break on the transfer case, not the HJ60.

Sorry but i can not find a good way to get your series running with your parts list.
If you would use the Rover transfer case, it would work a bit. Still very weak centers and axles.
But it will be expensive to get the Toyota diesel on the Rover gearbox or the Toyota gearbox on the Rover transfer case.

may sound stupid but i want to be able to drive it on the road.. of coarse the suspention and tyres will have to wait till its redgesterd. iwant to try to get it egineered with a set of 33in road tyres

Have you seen A 4x4 is Born? Mark Evans did exactly that. Although he made it look easy. If you haven't seen A 4x4 is Born, i suggest you do. It doesn't appear to be a major technical feat, however if you want the good stuff, then it won't be a cheap build.
I'd forget the toyota running gear and stick with range rover stuff, or something equally small. 2h & 60's running gear is way too big and heavy

Forget the toyota parts. The 2H isn't worth writing home about and won't fit.
Find a rover engine/gearbox combo (disco diesel would be easiest) and it's almost all made to fit together.
