GU 3" lift

hey guys, ive recently got a GUII 01 model and have just purchased 35's, while talking to a mate of mine he was suggesting that i get a 3" lift as well as a neg 13 offset rims to fit them in, just wondering what you guys think?? what your running and any recommendations you have and what else i might need to get them in there. any help would be great, thanks.

get some early 80 series offset rims should do fine and 3 inches would do and/or maybe a bit of a body lift

-22mm offset rims are probably the most pupular. I can't comment directly in regards to lift requirements for 35's on a GU (because they have more plastic than GQ's), but 3" sounds about right. It also depends on what size 35's (x10.5, x12.5, x15.5?), and whether its a wagon or ute (you didn't say...).

yeah i was also told about the neg 22s as well just wasnt too sure on what i really needed, and yeah there in an abundance of plastic on the thing :\ and sorry i did leave those things out, didnt even think to mention it, its a wagon, and they are 35x12.5x16 any suspension joints anyone can recommend?, im in melb eastern subs (ringwood,croydon,bayswater) and dibbo, the 80 series rims work well for that do they? and im trying to get away with it just being a suspension lift without having to touch the body (less things to try and lift up along the way)

I'm not too sure what offsets are available in the 16" rim department, so you'd have to search on that. I know of a few people running the stock 16" GU rims with 33/35/37's without any dramas.

As for where to go and what to buy, give Shane at Suspension Stuff a call. He really knows his stuff when it comes to Patrols, and his prices and service are spot on too.

i have a 3in flexy kit in my GU ute from them.

i dont know about the rear because yours is a wagon, but the front fits 35's with a small amount of cutting of plastic and the removal of front mudflaps.

just chuck them on now with the standard rims and see where it hits..... your wheels will compess up into the guards after the lift when fourbying anyway......

Doing a suspension lift wont help you fit bigger tyres on your GU,,, only extending the bumpstops, rim offset, panel work or bodylift will help.

Luckily, Gu's fit 35's easy. - 22 rims will help too.

hey mate.
I run a 3" lift in my GU wagon. 3" king springs, 4" EFS Extreme shocks, Wizard drop boxes, home made extended sway bar links and extended brake lines. I should do adjustable panhards but havnt had the funds and seems ok without them.
I run 305/70/16 (33x12.5) on standard offset TI alloy rims. They rub in rear guard under compression (standard nissan feature) and i get the odd light rub on front radius arm if offroad on full lock. I think 35's would be ok. As per earlier posts i would probly suggest wider offset rim. Althought I think it would b ok and just let the tyres do the guard triming they will let you know if minor triming is needed.

sweet as, thanks heaps for all the info i think ill be going for the 3" lift kit from suspension stuff and getting -22 sunnys, i would like to do it sooner but the thing is now due for the 200 thou service so i needa come up with 1k. Hopefully in about 4 weeks or so it'll get done and ill be able to post some pics up, once again thanks heaps for the info and yeah, fingers crossed it all goes well.
