looking to buy new MN Triton D/Cab

Re: looking to buy new MN Triton D/Cab
I pick mine up on Tuesday.
I went with the GLX-R and went with the manual because the difference in price was enough to get the canopy.
I am more than likely going to go with either Ironman or Ultimate suspension. I have quotes on both, and have asked around the forums about the Ironman and seen very few people say they have a problem, and the price is good enough for me to get the Ironman HID's as well.
I wouldn't worry about the lockers too soon, from all accounts on the newtriton.net forum, the traction control is excellent. I'll be holding back on the lockers for a while until I've given the vehicle some testing.
I have ordered "ChipIt" chip because I got a very good price on it through a group-buy at newtriton.net, but will drive it a while without before I add it - probably till at least the first 1500km service to see how it goes.
There are a huge number of people saying that the seats are designed by satan, and are miserably uncomfortable after any lengthy period of time in the seat, and they have a solution in the form of a 25mm spacer that raises the front of the seat to give some support to the legs. There is even a member that makes custom designed ones that you can order. I have a set of them here, and they look pretty good. I'll be adding them the moment I have the vehicle.
I can't answer too many questions yet, as I still don't have mine, but I have done a heap of researching while waiting to get mine (I ordered it 3 weeks ago), as it's the only thing keeping me from going mad with the wait.
Look forward to seeing a build up thread on it when you get yours.
What colour did you choose ?
I went the dark blue pearl, and the only options I ticked at the Dealers were the MMCS and the high line canopy. The rest I'll put on afterwards.

Re: looking to buy new MN Triton D/Cab
Hi ezookie,
l have to wait a week and a half for my car sales guy to get back for holidays in QLD, the colour is ether going to be white or iron bark, As for the model either the
base one or mid spec one as l don't want one with all the bells and whistle as l a lot of my work is in the Vic Alps , will put a stitcom gull wing box in the back with 150 ltr fuel tank in the base as well so it will see a fair amount of bush work, as l have just totally just trashed one of my patrol, as it end up on it's roof and me with ten fractors in my back, look to trade it every 4 years, talking about the seat are they that bad, how much for the other guy to supply whole new seat as to buying one from ARB and just bolting it in and going, also a lot of people are talking about the length of the tray and turning circle what's the deal , as for canopy's they rattle to bits in no time flat, if you spend a lot of time flogging about in the Alps like l do, that's why l have opted for the box in the tub trick, have not seen any thing on the ultimate suspension what do you know, l want be looking at the iron man set up at all, as l have been down that path with my Toyota and patrol ute at present l have 5 patrols & Toyota and one zook ute, all running ride-pro suspension now, very happy with them, do you know if ultimate have adjustable shocks for the Triton range, if l go for the base model will put diff lock front and back and be done with it.
this blog is all over the place by the way.
cheers wheelybin.

I believe the ironbark is for the GLX-R only.
The seats are a bit crap, most people complain that the front of the seats don't provide any support to the thigh area, hence why spacers are used to lift the front mounting. Personally I think the seats lack side support as well, can feel urself slipping while cornering and while offroading.
Theres possibly problems with altering the seat mounting both with road authorities and insurance companies. Changing the seats will require an engineering cert in most states. I'd suggest to see how the seats are for yourself, then if it becomes a big problem for you to look into having the seats re-foamed and re-trimmed to provide better support. Not sure what sort of cost that would be but would have to think cheaper than buying a new seat and having it complianced.
I agree with 'Try it On", the TC in these things is pretty good, I optioned up with the factory locker but haven't gotten into a situation I need to use it yet. Only had the truck for a few weeks though so not ventured too far.

Re: looking to buy new MN Triton D/Cab
Rang my dealer to day and left message for him to ring me back, l don't know, if he is still on holidays or not, Hope to hear from him early next week so l can get the ball rolling.
l Still would like to know about the take off of the triton as to whether or not they suffer from the no power at take off, the same as the 3ltr patrols suffer from.
Cheers Wheelybin.

Re: looking to buy new MN Triton D/Cab
There is a bit of lag depending on ur revs at the point when u put ur foot down, apparently more than the 3.2DiD. But all turbo vehicles have lag to some extent, I don't really feel its a big issue, when it does spool up it pulls pretty hard. The triton shits all over my old petrol pajero anyways.
Theres always chipping and exhaust to help with the lag also. Take one for a test drive and see what you think.

Re: looking to buy new MN Triton D/Cab
have been for a drive in the new hilux and very impressed with the of the mark no lag and it pulls very strong, But is a bit on the pricey side, l hoping that the sale guy is back on Monday, so l can talk to him and go for a test drive.
Might go for the automatic yet, if it is 5 speed. It might not have turbo lag if it's a automatic.
Cheers Wheelybin.
