Sierra engine swap wire job

Post by V.W.Dave »

Hey guys just wondering who you all have used in sydney to do the wiring on your engine 1.6 swops. Are any of you auto sparkys? I have talked to a few sparkys that say ya I can do it but have never done it before. I want some one that has done a few before.
Yes I know there is a guy on ebay that will do it but he is wanting WAY to much he quoted me (without shipping) $350 for the basics the a further $200 for the extention as mine is a balino. Now that is not a bad price if he was here doing it on the car and making sure it worked and was here but a ship in ship out to me is way to much.
Now I am a Snap on dealer and I can pull a favor here and there and the sparky I asked said he would come out and do it for $250 some lunch and a 6pack but he has never done it befor and that scares me. I have heard of a few people doing it for $500 as a turn key job.
What have you all done. Do any of you want to come make some money?
I have everything to do the job and honestly I could do it my self as I am fairly good with wiring but I want it to be as close to perfect as possible.

I will have the engine in the sierra and the harness ready to be worked next weekend let me know what you guys have done.

Yahh He is the guy that gave me the quote, I have heard many good things about him and his work but all up it would cost me $600 + to get it done. I am sorry but that is to much for a mail in mail out. If he was here putting it on in the car doing a turn key deal it would be a different story.

I know mates have gotten it done for less then $500 in a shop here in sydney.

is there a suzuki shop or whatever near you? generally every state has a suzuki specialist that does these sort of conversions etc.

Yes I live about 5ks from Suzi-Tech and about 20ks from suzi fours, but they both need me to bring them the car and want to charge $700 plus. I was wondering if some one off here wants to come make some tax free no middle man coin. I will provide all the tools, all the wire all the tape, all the solder. I guess no one want to. I guess I will do it my self.... Blahh I hate wires.

well, dont take it to suzi tech
i bought a sierra with a 1.6 in it, i have the receipt from suzitech that the original owner payed to get the engine fitted... $3500 plus the $1500 original purchase of the engine.
catch was they never got it running and wanted more money for it, i rang them and they didnt want to help me either, said it must have been an import and it would never run!
i bought the sierra, ripped the wiring and computer out, went to suzi wreck, $300 for a vitara 1.6 16 valve harness, computer, airflow meter, coil and distributor, i stripped down the harness myself and got it going in an afternoon.
1st thing you need to do is hunt down your wiring diagrams with colour codes helps and pin outs on the computer.
strip out all the un necessary wiring you dont need, plug it it, power it up and off you go.
Chop it drop it and big block it.
