tigerz 12000 2 speed

Post by shlacks »

hey just wondering who has fitted this winch and if they had issues with the length? im about to fit one to an 80 series with a non-winch arb bar. I figured because of the length im going to have to fabricate something anyway so no point buying a winch bar i might aswell cut and strengthen the bar at the same time i modify to fit.
so has anyone got pics of the fitting?
im going to find out one way or another i was just hoping for a heads up and maybe some tips before i start
thanks

ok i took my car around to fabricators mates place and pulled off the bar and all seems to fit in quiet ok with no clearance issues now i just need to go find out how thick a winch bar is so i know how thick i get the metal to reinforce the inside of the bar as id like it strong but no need to go overkill and make the bar weight a tonne!!!

most aftermarket off the shelf bars are only 4-5mm thick but use folds etc to strengthen it.

I would suggest that you use at least 6mm or 8mm if it's just a flat plate to mount the winch to then brace it well. Weld a 30mm or so piece of the same material along the top at right angles to the face and it will never bend, unless you can't weld or hit something really big, very hard.

have fun

my mate is a metal fabricator with his own shop and he just made a custom rear bar for the car so ill get him to weld it so it shouldnt be a problem but he asked me to find out what size steel is used in them... i might even go buy the tigerz mount bracket and get that permenently welded into the bar across the top of where it slides onto the chassis... cheers for help guys ill post up pics and and measurements i had to cut etc incase someone else wants to do this in the future...

ok i have one more question.... when using a winch mount plate like the one supplied by tigerz (and apparently tjm bars have the same setup pulling 90 deg to the mount bolts) at what height is the fairlead mounted above the winch mounting plate????????????
