GQ/MAVERICK PRICES-WOES

Post by Shark »

Hey guys got a 88 swb maverick and seem to be having some trouble trying to move it. Its a petrol, manual 230k. Ive dropped the price as low as $6000 bucks still including extra's like roof rack overhead consoles and bullbar etc but havnt had any nibbles at all.

Just curious as to wether these vehicles are not very popular or wether i am asking too much for it?? Really annoying me cause i think its a bargain for what it is.

Help

Marc

I was even considering selling it for a older car

just a guess but i think people may not be biting cause its in perth?? and to get it over this way would cost??? only guessing just seems GQs sell quickish when they are in Qld/Vic/Nsw etc etc, but i agree, $6K is good for what you are selling!!

Yeah i know most of the guys on this site are on the other side of australia but i am trying to sell it here too. It only costs about $650 to get it to sydney so freight aint that much of a killer but even anyone over here isnt interested.

I dont get it. :?

6000 is a good price, but even if it only costs 650 to freight it east, anyone would want to look at it first, so they would have to pay to freight themselves west, them possiby freight themselves east again if they didn't like the looks of it. easier to spend maybe 8000 and buy one locally. i think that is why you're not getting any interest..

I think the other comments are about right.

WA cars also have a bad reputation over here as far as I can tell; the general consensus is that the RWC standards etc are not nearly as stringent.

I don't know whether that has any basis in fact, but it's certainly an opinion I've heard many times - that basically they'll let anything drive around over there.

Personally I reckon that if that's all you can get for it, then you should keep it.

The car is worth $8500 at least, in comparison to something else you could get for the money. If you're letting it go for $6k just because you don't like the fuel consumption, then, well, $2500 buys a fair amount of fuel.

What about LPG or an engine swap? I really love my Mav shorty; I'd hate to have to let it go.

I also think it might just be bad timing... cars don't seem to be selling very well at the moment unless it's just my imagination (can't get the MU sold...)

Heck, I'd do you a swap, Maverick for MU... we could meet at Adelaide or Alice! Saves you shipping those flares to me as well :)

Its not just the fuel consumption!
Basically i cant really afford to go and spend $2250 on getting it converted to gas otherwise i would and lets face it any stock car wether it be my car or someone else's sucks off road. Like i cant afford to upgrade anything on the car and i cant afford to do the kms i want to do so the only thing i can think of is get something worth a little less and have some fun doing it up. The other day i was going down a pi&% weak decline and i went over a slight drop and bottomed out and ended up having to get a new fuel tank cause i cracked the original one!!

When i finally sell or swap the thing im hoping on getting a mq diesel or turbo diesel.
