Any GQ Owners in the Penrith NSW area with reduction gearing

Post by StarkRavingSimmo »

Hey,

I've got a 2.8L Turbo Diesel GQ rolling on 305's (33's). I'm mostly happy with my low range but I'm finding in the tricky stuff I just don't have the low down torque that my mates with the 4.2's have. Short of doing an engine swap, I'm figuring reduction gearing would be a good way to sort this out.

I'm just wondering if anyone out there has a similar setup (2.8L TD or GU 3.0L TD) with reduction gearing that would let me have a short drive in a car park somewhere so I can gauge what the difference would be like with reduction gearing? I've been told my 1st now in low would be 3rd in low with reduction and 2nd would be 4th. However, it'd just be nice to actually feel the difference.

Cheers.

Mate I did this mod to my GQ 2.8 running 35" tyres and I can say if I was to only spend money on
one thing on a rd2.8t the gears are it.

Transfer reduction gears of 85% are worth every cent .

Just gotta find me a workshop to get them installed
