100s SAS
I am thinking about upgrading my 60s to something a lot newer and more comfortable. I would like a factory turbo diesel 100s with a solid front axle, but they never made them. How many people have done a SAS on a 100s and can you give some feedback on what you think of it now.
Cheers.

Re: 100s SAS
Is there a problem with turbo retrofit to a solid axle 100.
Must be a cheaper option than SAS.

Re: 100s SAS
It'll cost you bout $18K for a basic 1HD-FTE/transmission conversion into a 105.
How much is a SAS going to cost.....?

Luv the sound of a diesel,

Re: 100s SAS
itd be easier to do motor swap then try do a SAS as the 100 is different chassis widths compared to 105 with the live axle.
Re: 100s SAS
I would like a manual 100s, and since the gearbox for the 1HD-FTE is stronger than the one for the 1HZ I need to find a HDJ100 with a manual gearbox from the factory, then do the SAS.
I think that buying a 105s and then trying to find a 1HD-FTE with a manual box to go in it would be much more difficult. Not fully decide what I want to do yet just trying to get some feedback from someone who has actually done a SAS in a 100s.

Re: 100s SAS
I never suspected that the chassis would be different as popeye suggests.
I can't imagine that the actual chassis rails changed, but I don't know.
I would not think that you would have any real dramas with an SAS on one of these though. Are you thinking just a 3 link front?

Re: 100s SAS
I dont think they can be done at all because of said chassis differences. The chassis's are alot skinnier on the IFS models compared to the live axle models and this in turn cause alot of strife trying to get decent steering geometry. Better off finding a written-off 80-100 series with 1HD motor and box and swapping them into a 1HZ 100 series. It'd save a lot of headaches, money and drama with engineering/licencing/insurance. The boxes do swap over but you'll need the H150/H151 transfer as well. Possibly tailshafts.sambo wrote: ...trying to get some feedback from someone who has actually done a SAS in a 100s.

Re: 100s SAS
yep.Are you thinking just a 3 link front?
Is the ABS system the same on the 100 as the 105. As in do they both take a wheel speed reading from the same place on the front wheel or is the IFS front different?

Or better yet a 105 and swap in a 1vd.stumpyGU wrote:I dont think they can be done at all because of said chassis differences. The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.
