Bent diff housing, where to fix?

Post by brad 93hilux »

Hi, my hilux housing has been bent for some time now on the short side axel tube which chews out my tyres prematurely..

Can anyone recommend a place in/ around sydney that can straighten it and then weld in a gusset the make it stronger?

The reason i had come to the conclusion it is bent is the inner axle has always pulled hard against the seal and has always chewed it out within 12-18 months and the tyres have to be rotated alot other wise would be stuffed within 20,000 kms from brand new.

Cheers
Brad

Theres a few comp blokes that straighten axles fairly often up here that have a simple technique. If it is bent top in ( will be wearing inside of tyre) Bolt rims with no tryes to your front hubs, chain them to a decent steel girder/log (girder/ log under rims) and then jack up under the housing where it is bent. Use a level to get the bent side the same as the straight side. It wont be perfect but then what solid front axle is?
