Flexing up without flexing...

I have been reading, and reading, and reading about fitting bigger tyres, body lifts, etc...

Now, let me paint you a picture...

I Have SWMBO's feroza, now fitted with a set of "32"" mongrels that we picked up not long ago. Sort of an impulse buy thing...

Got them purely as play tyres...

I haven't done any lift, what so ever in the truck yet. They went on no worries, car steers lock - lock fine until you really start flexing the suspension... I did have to remove the front mud flaps...so we went out for a play yesterday, found some puddles to drive slowly into, stop, and then drive back out of. Great! Traction is fun
Now the mission is to 'persuade' the body to fit around the tyres at flex, as much as possible...before we fit a lift of sorts...so here is the question...

Is there anything wrong with attaching the car to the ground, and then jacking up the wheels to artificially create flex? That way I could jack up the wheels to full travel (IE Touching bumpstops) turn the steering each way, see where it touches, and "massage" the offending piece of car out of the way. And if it won't move, I'll consider cutting it out

This way I'll ideally be able to fit the muddies and have full travel without playing with suspension lifts, body lifts, etc. Keeping COG as low as possible and one less thing for the boys in blue to pick on...plus I LOVE how ridiculously stupid the truck looks with the 32's sitting just short of being covered by the flares in stock position

Eventually will probably end up fitting some Balljoint spacers and shackles to the rear, but having the muddies fit at stock height would be great...

Go for it, I take the coils out and do the same thing.

But if you can't take spring or leaves or torsion bars out then just make sure its chained down well and the jack is in a good spot, because there will be sh*tloads of pressure on it and if something moves the jack or something will go flying, and not be worried if you face is in the way!

All that aside theoretically theres no problem with doing it.

32's are no where near ideal on a Feroza, I run them on mine and thats with 2 inch body lift and 2 inch suspension lift and also cut out front guards to clear. 32's are not fun on a stock Feroza as the crawl ratio sucks big time meaning you often have to launch yourself at obstacles (often breaking stuff in the process). But yes 32's will fit but you will either need to do a lot of cutting or add some lift in.

And yes, I know the 32's aren't all the great in the Feroza. But they were cheap ($20 each) with rims and they are for the boss' car which only really drives through puddles...

Yeah mate, We were dropping the boss' son at his grandparents place for the night, and as we left Calala we spotted a heap of 4x4 type stuff and a 'for sale' sign on a blokes front lawn...

It was the camper trailer that attracted us

Turned out he had been running them inside out, so I had to strip the tyres and plug the extra valve holes (Did this with weld) and fit them again...Now I'm a veteran with tyre levers which is a skill I'm happy to have taught myself...

Will post up some photos for sure once I get the guards hacked up...the car looks absolutely ridiculous with the 32"s on but she loves it
