Make ya own using transfer case selectors. I used ones from a 40 series transfer. Mine goes onto the output shaft and runs ball bearings. Not that hard to make if ya good with a lathe and welding.

i wonder if something like this would be strong enough to run in a car that does both speed events and rock crawling?

Looks great!

Those components are what do range selection in the transfer case. They are strong enough to perform that duty, so why would they not be strong enough to couple drive to the rear axle?

sweet here is a good chance to learn... whats the idea behind the rear disconnects, i haven't realy heard of anyone using these before, i had a quick look on one of the links, they were saying use them to do digs like the atlas...

The atlas transfer has the ability to engage only the front output so you can lock the rear brakes through the use of another brake solenoid and walk the front of the car around tight corners.

With the disconnect it does the same thing, allows only drive to be transferred to the front, the difference is that the transfer output on a standard box will still be turning, the sliding gear you see disconnects drive to the rear tail shaft.
