hi all
i am looking at getting a 3" flexi lift kit this week. consisting of 3" flexi dobinson coils, procomp shocks, an the usual brake lines, panhards , bushes ets...
BUT
my drama atm is the lower trailing arms, i know that i will need the heavy duty ones, but i am unsure if i will need the lengthened or just the standard lenght ones. i have bunnings flares on, and i usualy wear 33's offroad, and 31's onroad/beach etc... i know that with the standards that at static height my wheelbase will be shorter, and the lengthened arms will correct this, but what will it do when flexing? i can almost push my 33's into my rear 1/4's atm with no lift. i still have the mudflap mounts attached and have been told that this could be the ptoblem. still need 2 look into it. but with the extenede arms, will i pusk them into the rears? or will they clear? and also, what will it do to the front of the rear guard, when at full droop? will the extended arms arc/droop keep it away, or will the standard arm's arc/droop push it into it? if someone is able to provide pics, that would be superb.
cheers

Re: 3" lift question
i had a 4inch lift with standard length arms! and no problems! and u can get little spacers u put in the front arms if ur worried
Re: 3" lift question
I run a set of dobinson 3" coils and 2" body lift in my GQ and I run a set of superior braced adjustable lowers and from memory I have set them at about 12mm longer than standard and have run 35" centrepedes and they just slightly touched my rear quarters when i wasn't running mudflaps.
Re: 3" lift question
I''d go 10mm longer over standar to try and correct the pinion angle your lift is creating. I'm happy with where my tyres fit in the guards, but the pinion angle is really giving me the sh1ts. I used to run radius arm spacers, but ditched them when i got drop boxes - the spacers are simple, but did their job.
Re: 3" lift question
if you wanna correct pinion angle, get adjustable uppers. a friend runs a 5'' lift with standard lowers, adjustable uppers and boss shocks. you have to be carefull with longer lowers because as you said you will get close to your rear 1/4, though with 33's you should be ok. We're smashing the rear 1/4 quite hard with 35'' treps, so if your goin to go bigger i'd hold off on the lower arms. Only problem with that is the rear steer you get due to the angles of the lower arms is attrocious
Re: 3" lift question
I agree with the post above. I used to run a 5" on my old shorty with 35's and left the lower arms standard length, this sat my tyre perfectly centered in the guard, if i had made them longer it would have hit the rear of the guard. However if you only intend to run 33's i'd go 10mm longer.
