I put my mech Oil guage to the right of my instrument cluster, in that little flat section.......ideally you wouldnt cause u have upwards of 40psi running into the back of it, but the fittings are pretty good.

Nah i mean where abouts do you tap them into on your motor?

are there any places to tap the mechanical water temp and oil pressure guages on the TD42 while keeping the factory guages or has everyone removed the factory senders?

cheers

Would a T piece between the water and oil outlets used for a turbo conversion be appropriate ? IE the oil feed behind the LHS engine mount and the water outlet (for want of a better term) at the rear of the block ? Just a thought..............

For your oil pressure there is a allan key grommet screw near the oil filters . You wont see the screww unless you look from underneath the car. It is located on the diagnal facing towards the front. I can take a photo if you dont find it.

My TD42 had a couple of filled holes on the lower thermostat housing that I would have through would have been up to the task of a sensor, and are also perfectly in the flow of water.

You could also just drill and tap a thread into the lower thermostat housing anyway.

on mine:

water temp: got a piece of pipe the same internal diameter as the radiator hose and braised a fitting into it. then cut the top rad hoe and hose clamped it in there. i think u can also buy these adaptor/pipe things from autobarn. (not sure if they big enough for patrol rad hoses)

oil pressure: just used a T piece and plumbed it into where the factory oil pressure sensor is.

Kewl thats a good idea with the rad hose like that, didnt think of that. Worst case scenario ill do that....

Oil pressure sounds a peice of cake. Was attempting to finish my intercooler piping today and slot that in but the rain just pissed me off too much.....

There's plenty of flat area around the lower thermostat that would allow you to drill and tap a fitting to it. Another spot you can pick up off is near the back of the block, on the passenger side:
