gq patrol wierd noise

Post by THE-Burger-Ring »

i got a gq patrol 89 diesel.
its sort of come out of no where i have noticed when you dump the clutch there is a delay and a huge clunk feeling and noise..
also notice it when driving if you take your foot off the accelarater then plant it again you can feel the delay and clunky feeling...
but if you drive normal and sensible you wouldnt feel the delay in the drive line...
i cant figure out what it is... its really bad when go to dump the clutch in second gear in the mud intendeding to do circle work.. any ideas...

also I recently changed all trailing arm rubbers.. and got front and rear lockers in last year

Normally i would have said upper and lower arms on the rear diff, but it seems you've sorted that. Did you inspect the upper bushes?

Other culprits could be universal joints, or sloppy backlash in the diff (CW&P).

And on a side note, dumping the clutch in a 3T 4x4 is probably not the best driving style if you respect your car (especially given that you already have some big slop going on).

Jeebus! Then i'd be sorting out your driveline slop ASAP. That much torque and freeplay you've got is only going to end in shrapnel.

What mods have you done to the car for 200rwkw? Sounds like a unit.

bigger turbo, running 30psi, truck airbox. 12mm bore fuel pump, custom tuned exhaust manifold, 3inch exhaust, front mount intercooler, hiclone.
200kw is tuned quite tame.. there is alot more in it.

You should put another hiclone in it

got dyno graphs?

id be saying its probably backlash in the diff, as in, your preload needs resetting

either that or get under there with a pry bar and pry all bushes joints etc, see if anything moves
