Well Bundytime (head mechanic) and myself (monkey boy) put the 4.88s in my lux today after encountering every possible problem that we could, spanning from flanges that didnt macth drive shafts to, worn splines, CV's that did not want to be removed.
Anyway its all done now, and the 4.5's are sitting in the shed.

cool so you saying if i have an higher ratio diff i will take the stress out of the engine and hold the speeds, and less likely to put skids marks on the roads when i take off at the intersection I love doing that

Maybe you could go and post this question on pirate4x4, there are alot of helpful guys over there that may be abble to explain it a little better.

It will bring your engine up in the rev range and allow you to put more skid marks on the road as well as in your pants when you start breaking things. It'll give you a better crawl ratio if thats the way you want to go.

Mick if you dont have anything constructive to add don't bother at all this is Tech not chit chat.

you already have 4.88s, if your avatar pic is correct, you have a LN46 single cab? they should have 4.88s, standard, so you NEED 35" tyres next, and a front airlocker!
but first, you should probably do a body lift, drop your front hanger, throw some longer shackles in, spacer under the rear springs, chop some steel and GET IT
after putting 5.29's in my lux with 32" tyres its has gotten a little to slow for highway driving, my speedo is way out i think and to hold 110km/h it revs at 3k
might keep a 4.3 for the highway drives
or get some bigger meats
I can get extended shackles if i want to aye, how much do they cost?
Im not planning on getting 35s yet i need money you give me 1k and i'll try to complete most of the rig
