Pinging on monster (sorry red bull) testand tag kme office is rocking!!! Night time radio is the bomb!! Whoo whoo!! Starting to look forward to this one... Will be very interesting due to the diff styles and all have a chance of a win... Will the coopers runners have the upper hand being lighter and faster?? But will they push to hard to early... Or will the WTC trucks come back into their own later in the arvo when the track starts to rut out and the hills become harder to drive.. But will the be able to resist the urge to stop at the bottom and winch?? Guess around 7pm on sat night most of my monster induced thoughts will be answered!

10 laps down for the leaders.
Plenty more bashing to do!
Thomas is driving like a man posessed!
The Hounddog is hauling with clean clear laps...

But it's DAB setting the pace. Stratigy and breakages are gonna be huge!!
It's gonna be a long race!!

It's one he'll of a crazy race.
Many of the big name teams are out.
Swamp Donks aparently removed their front diff from the truck... Via the Australian bush!!

The current front runners by my internal clock is
hi de hoe racing
DAB Engineering
Gassed Up- hounddawg!!

Not in this order but they are the guys that seem to be circulating quick and not in the pits!
That said there's a few sneaky Petes just lapping consistantly with little to no fuss!
These truely are in the hunt for the win as I'd say half the field will spend atleast half the race in the pit - dnf or not!

Wow... It's 11:21 and I have just got home from the event!

Wow...

That was TUFF!

Attrition rate was crazy.

The top runners were BRILLIANT!
The top three deserve a medal!

1st place - DAB Engineering.

At the risk of sounding a little bias... they ran away with it! They led start to finish with the fastest proluge time and then a dominating display led them to be the only vehicle on the lead lap.
Huge congratulations to the team
Jason Larcombe
Dane Barrett
Herb
Aaron Benson
The team play a huge role in this race as they stratigise about pit stops and whatnot. It was a HUGE part of the race with team DABs pit stop moving them into a position where they were the only team on the lead lap.

2nd place - Men in Tights

Another brilliant drive. After ripping two tires off early in the race and starting 9th in the morning Shane Marsden and Wusty drove smart, hard and consistant all day to battle for a slender 1 min win over 3rd place.
Shane and Wusty looked both exhausted and exuberant at the same time after taking the checkered flag after a grueling race!

3rd place - Hi De Hoe

These guys deserve a huge hand. Another consistant, well rounded drive had these guys pushing hard and keeping pit stops to a minimum and laps to a maximum! Congrats guys you did an excellent job and were a very professional race team!

The next team in 4th was Bundy Bashers. But to put it in perspective at just how fast these top 3 teams were they were 3 laps behind 3rd. Which is 4 laps behind Larco.
Again that may not sound like much but at 15 minutes a lap that is a ridiculous 45mins slower than 3rd place!!!
Not taking a single thing away from the Bundy boys! Awesome work! But I'm just trying to put it in context about just how well the top 3 teams performed!!!

A huge congradulations to any of the competitors that went into the event!
I'm sure some had a big learning curve beat into them by the bush! But I can tell you that from the Teams I talked to they loved this driving style of offroad event!

A HUGE congrats to the WTC team!
The people talked, you listened and you came up with a winner!!!

It was an awesome event!! Will type up all of my thoughts after I start feeling a bit better.... Rum/vodka/red bull/green apple udl/pepsi max was a bad idea!! Ecspecially since it was 1.5ltrs of it In my big bubba keg! :drinking:

Big congrats to the local boys pullin off 1st and 3rd. Was good to see the thinkers take out the race by driving with their heads. Dusty much..... Apparently there was slow driving for 3 accesses on yeppon road for anyone driving to the beach. I think that mosko shoulda been givin a bit more water and placed around the track in some strategic positions to keep the drivers guessin. Nearly caught a few people out runnin past the pit section after some crisp "dust suppresion" .Other than that i hope all the competitors had a great time. Just goes to prove the fastest gq in cq still holding strong to the title no seconds for number one lead start to finish thats hop DAB racing roll

Sorry Giggles, just to clarify
Men in tights is Hound dawg and Wusty.
So it is actually locals 1st and 2nd.
I think Hi De Hoe is a Mackay team?

And Mosko realistically there was more than a few teams of the 8 that finished that had - ahem - extended pit stops so as to avoid DNF status!
I think realistically it was only about 5 teams that truely battled on to the end.
A special mention has to go to Perko and Crew!
These boys never said die! Even after the 60 died more than a few times!
Their pits were a hive of activity and never once did the thought of not giving the comp 110% ever cross their minds!
Good work guys! You re legends in my book! When I would have looked for a quite drink after the 3rd repair you guys busted your guts to keep that car moving! Awesome effort!!!

my god my back is killin me, what a track it killed the truck half a lap from the finish and getting it home and having a look at it there is some work to do, motor cooked and no reverse in auto but hell it was worth it. A big cheers to the WTC crew and all the helpers. As for sportsmanship you would go a long way to find a better group of people every one gave a hand, lent gear and stopped for you if you had trouble on the track to tow you to safety or lend you tools. cheers to all that where there!!! :D :smilecolros: :D

thanks digsy and giggles, we set out with one goal... to finish, and almost did, smashing a swivel hub 3/4 into the last lap was just about heart breaking. The pit crews were outstanding in this event, every team had a dedicated crew just trying to keep the cars going, i think ours were working over time haha, and dan did a great job to tell me where we needed to turn even when i just headed straight haha. Big shout out to all the organisers and volunteers, especially kingy... spent nearly 2 hours after the race had finished helping us get out of the S***. Well done, loved the style of event and hope to see more of it.

Once again guys, a huge thanks to everyone that competed, pit crewed, helped out with marshalling, scoring, the gate, track maintainace, recovery etc etc.

Congrats to DAB for taking this out. It was a great consistant drive.

From an organisers view, it was awesome to see the sportsmanship and professionalism displayed by all teams. We have received some very positive feed back from those that were at the event.
If you do have any constructive feed back, we would love for you to contact us.

From a sponsors view, wooohooo and a yeh baby to Hi Dee Hoe Racing. This was there third ever event and drove like veterains. Breakages slowed there last coulpe of laps, but they made it through.

Once again, great effort to everyone that competed and we look forward to seeing you all in 4 weeks for WTC Round 3 at Seeonee.

Awesome awesome event!!
From the displays of team work, efs qld's awesome sportsmanship, the
never say die dattitude of the teams with breakages, the front runners putting in the hard yards and crossing the finish line for the checkered flag!!!

there's so many positives that have come out of the running of this type of event, and from it being the first of it's kind I think the WTC guys will only make it better and better!!

A big congratulations to everyone who put their Hands up and raced, it was an awesome effort from all!! I definately can't wait to hang up the dust suppression safety vest and pull on a helmet and dust mask! :D

oh and one more thing that I thought was awesome...... The Saturday night feed and live band, that just topped of the whole weekend, I just won't fill the big bubba keg with such a mixed cocktail next time :drinking: Sunday morning sucked! Haha
