Can someone explain the different stages with lift kits?

I thought it had to do with the amount of height it offers, but looking at stage 7 kits I get confused!

try adding a little ifo re your 4x4
and some links to the sussy your talkin about
71 fj40 front shackle reversal +3" , 55 rear springs +3", 35 15.5 claws , 60 diff's 4wheel disc's , SOON TO BE WINDSOR V8 + 5 speed

sorry to be more specific - I've just seen lots of different lift kits advertised and i've always wondered what the stages mean.

Example for the 100 series:

I've got a 92 4runner IFS with 2" lift and 50mm body lift, but am looking at buying a 105 series with a 3" lift

Just marketing type crap, making it easy to differentiate between kits pretty much. Every company will have different jargon, stage 2 from one wont nessacerily have the same gear in it or be as much of a "complete" lift as a stage 2 from another company.

FWIW I've delt with SuspensionStuff before and they were EXTREMLY helpfull and knew what was needed for my application.

basically the lower number kits have the bare essentials for the given lift height. For example the more expensive ones will come with new radius arms instead of castor plates to correct castor angle, and rear links to fix pinion angle and axle position. The rule of you get what you pay for comes in, and the expensive kits make for a better performing truck, particually on road.
