engel fridge help required.

Post by johnsy »

Hi guys i need some assistance troubleshooting a fault with my engel. it is a MT45F - G4, 40L approximately 8 years old. the fridge was originally installed in a Hilux service vehicle, all the headlight and airbag wiring in the hilux fried and it took the two fuses in the engel out with it at the same time. i have since replaced both fuses however when plugged into 12V it blows the 10amp fuse in the rear cover and when connected to 240v it trips the safety switch. what i'm chasing is any info (wiring diagrams, resistance values etc) that anyone may have for the on/off/temperature switch and the power supply. my old man also has one of these fridges and his runs fine off my leads (i know cause i've annexed it until i can get mine fixed). any help would be appreciated. thanks johnsy

Disclaimer: I've never had an engel apart before.

But it sounds like your fault could be in something that is common to both the 12V and 240V supplies. Maybe try disconnecting the motor and put power on to see if the fuse still blows.

Use your nose (seriously) to see if you can smell anything that may be burnt out.
