Crownwheel and Pinion

Post by MyGQ »

Ok i am looking for someone to confirm this

do the 4.11 and 4.625 diff ratios use the same crownwheel (37 tooth) and different pinion (9 tooth for 4.11:1 and 8 tooth for 4.625:1)?

I can see where you're coming from but I have changed both (4.1 and 4.6 ratios) and the parts are not the same.

Having said that though, I haven't actually counted but I have a 4.1 set in the shed that I could count for ya if that helps?

But I'm sure they are different as the thickness of the crownwheel is significantly different so the pinion will be different too.

Not sure if the crown wheel gears are exactly the same, but i can confirm that 4.6 gears are 37 for the crownwheel and 8 for the pinion.

kewl well the 4.11's are 37 crown and 9 pinion, so all should be good, either way we have worked out a way of getting them in. we can still swap crownwheels cause the carriers have to come out, its just they will be going back into different housings, that way we don't disturb the pinion :)
