finishing touches on baleno conversion (trouble starting)

Post by adrian` »

hi hows it going, well i got my car back from the exhaust joint yesterday and thought id try and start my car with the new engine but it doesnt like starting, itjust keeps cranking and has a little flutter as if it wants to start but then nothing.

i thought i would pull the spark plug out to check the spark and it has heaps, but the thing is when i pulled the plug out it started fine and when i screwed it back in it didnt start again so i pulled the lead off and after a little bit it started and then was fine it would stop and start when ever you turn the key but it would rev high and then drop for no longer then a second and then rev high again.

then when i went out thismorning it wouldnt start again. also the check engine light stays on the whole time.

any help would be great.

check all your earths/ignition and power sources and then check em again and again.
Injector pulse is also one to check, the injector wiring needs a good earth.
also check the block is earthed
try starting it by squirting some fuel in the inlet manifold and cranking, you can check the fuel lines have pressure by cracking the bolt on the fuel rail, but be careful as its highly pressurized fuel and should spray everywhere under normal circumstances.
