That was TUFF!

The top runners were BRILLIANT!
The top three deserve a medal!

1st place - DAB Engineering.

At the risk of sounding a little bias... they ran away with it! They led start to finish with the fastest proluge time and then a dominating display led them to be the only vehicle on the lead lap.
Huge congratulations to the team
Jason Larcombe

Aaron Benson
The team play a huge role in this race as they stratigise about pit stops and whatnot. It was a HUGE part of the race with team DABs pit stop moving them into a position where they were the only team on the lead lap.

2nd place - Men in Tights

Another brilliant drive. After ripping two tires off early in the race and starting 9th in the morning Shane Marsden and Wusty drove smart, hard and consistant all day to battle for a slender 1 min win over 3rd place.
Shane and Wusty looked both exhausted and exuberant at the same time after taking the checkered flag after a grueling race!

3rd place - Hi De Hoe

These guys deserve a huge hand. Another consistant, well rounded drive had these guys pushing hard and keeping pit stops to a minimum and laps to a maximum! Congrats guys you did an excellent job and were a very professional race team!

The next team in 4th was Bundy Bashers. But to put it in perspective at just how fast these top 3 teams were they were 3 laps behind 3rd. Which is 4 laps behind Larco.
Again that may not sound like much but at 15 minutes a lap that is a ridiculous 45mins slower than 3rd place!!!
Not taking a single thing away from the Bundy boys! Awesome work! But I'm just trying to put it in context about just how well the top 3 teams performed!!!

A huge congradulations to any of the competitors that went into the event!
I'm sure some had a big learning curve beat into them by the bush! But I can tell you that from the Teams I talked to they loved this driving style of offroad event!

A HUGE congrats to the WTC team!
The people talked, you listened and you came up with a winner!!!
Im sorry but i am a bit disappointed the way your bagging out the Bundy Bashers, Not only did they finish (remember only 8 finished) but they actually finished 4 laps behind Larco NOT 3rd place. and the average lap on the day for the BB was 13.5 minutes to 14. so they only came in about 35-40 minutes behind Larco again not behind 3rd place. and that was there first major comp and look where they got so they cant be doing to bad... look at the teams that were below them they gave it there all but unfortunately there cars failed (not taking any thing away from ANY competitor). Look at Swamp Donkeez, they were avergaing 10-11 minutes a lap. But i give it to all teams that finished the event, and to those that came so close. but to start and not finish i know is hard but all competitors seemed to of had a ball and not a bad thing to say about the event, thanks WTC, it was amazing, well done guys. it just surprising to see that Winch Trucks can come and compete with cars made to do this sort of event and do exceptionally well but not vise versa. and as for giving the top three a metal i beleive those all who finished deserved one. you have been around enough comps to know that this is a different sort of comp exceptially for CQ to know that even those who finished 2 or 5 laps behind some one else, it was a exceptal effort to actually finish the event!

GREAT COMP WTC!!! See ya at round 3!!!

Don`t get too worked up mate the best way to look at any event is lap times and the things you would change if you run the same event again which you guys,I imagine you are a part of the bundy boy`s crew, have already done.To be a sucess you must finish! they did that and thats all that really matters.I know for a fact there was no intention for the comment from digsy to be taken in anyway other than positive.I wan`t there and read the same post and thaught nothing of it.

The way i took it was Digsy was trying to tell the story to the person that was not there and give them an idea of what the race consisted of!

As for the im suprised about the WTC vehicles doing well against the
vehicles made to do this style of event , IF you ask larco him self he will tell
You his aim was to be there at the end! and that is what he did ....
Any of the comp cars competing were capible of this, stragity and mental
Fitness plays a big part in this style of event! At the end of the day the boys
Put on a good event and good on them, everyone enjoyed them selves
And thats all that matters!!

GU driver I think you are a little confused as my post clearly said I wasn't taking anything away from the Bundy Boys.
And I stated correctly that they were 3 laps behind 3rd - 4 behind Larco - read it again...
And I just noticed you corrected me on time behind Larco - again you're wrong - 4 laps at 14 mins is 56 minutes behind Larco! If you're gonna tell me Im wrong atleast check what you're talking about!!
But I'll call it like I see it. You guys weren't in the race this time champ. Larco was pitting just because he could at the end. He also literally stopped for five minutes on the last lap just so he didn't have to do another lap...
Larco hosed it plain and simple!

But now I'm calling you out. What are you talking about with trucks built for this sort of racing?
Who exactly are you talking about?
Larco has factory suspension links, coil springs, factory wheelbase, steel panels and doors...
You must be talking about his "high end" smoothy shocks - no bypass 2 inch jobbies...
When you guys talk about being setup, who are you talking about?!

There was no high end Offroad racers there despite what you winch boys think!!!
And don't get confused Larco had plenty in the tank when you guys were clearly pushing hard.

Now just do we are clear I represent Larco in no way in this post so don't rag him, rag me.
Just makes me laugh that everyone keeps saying Larcos car is "built for it" but the WTC trucks have heaps more suspension andmods than Larco ever has!!

Again Congrats to all competitors and teams!

(thats not including time stopped because that makes it 6km/hr average not so good) how did every one else go for interest sake :?:

Mate in brents car i did not no he had the gps on, i wonder why he was asking what speed i was doing on that day doing recoveries. The gps showed
a lot of criscrossing even where there were no tracks. I don,t think i am
allowed to drive his car again  If i get another drive i will turn the GPS off :!: :!: Glad you had fun i hope the big rig is comming back for WTC
winch rounds next year.

After only seeing it in action that once I think you could put Larcos gq down to being not highly modified but more as set up correctly, as it all seems to work so well and with him being a good wheel man that's how it becomes a winning combination! He definately is switched on and knows his cars handling "personality" well, as I was in able to catch him out with my water sabotages on more then one occasion!

And gu driver I don't think it should be an US vs Them argument, with winch truckS v flat track becsuse for this style of event to grow in cq we really need to all band together, and for that race no setup was perfect With all the deep ruts where bigger tyres should have prevailed, water crossing where higher cars should have crossed quicker, and muddy sections where chunkier tyres should have had the advantage, so with all the contributing factors taken into consideration there were definately a couple more highly moded and better set up vehicles there built to deal with that track!!

Now without taking anything away from larco and his well deserved win or how the event was run (I loved it) Id like to hear others thoughts on a couple things..... First do you think it first would
have been better contended for if the dust factor wasn't there? Allowing closer racin and more chances for passing or atleast tailing the lead cars?
Secondly: if there were more places with say 3 cars wide to allow for overtaking?
Thirdly: do you think with the tight turns and windy sections itnwas more suited to a turbo petty over big v8 or sooty as the latter two take a bit to get wound up??
And last but not least Swaffie should have the best answer to this, do you think that between a winch driver and flat track longer distance driver there is a different mind set? Where a winch dude knows how to go from point a to b as fast as possible and then stop, where as you learn to think differently when doing a longer distance?

Yeah deffinatly a different mind set from winching then going to off road
rally style,(i found out the hard way), in saying this i believe the faster rally
style event experience would be very benificial going back to a winch style of
event as you learn more about being smoother and more confident in ,
Stopping ,Accellerating etc . Winching also comes back to driver- navvi
realationship / understanding / Trust! Roundie and i are good mates i trust
his judgement and if he asked me to do something that i thought was
wrong / or different (Racing that is!) to how i would do it ,i would always
shut up and be his bitch and do as he said! Your navi is your biggest asset
as it was when we were winching , so if we went back to winching i could
probaly say we would be a bit quicker as i am a bit more confident with the car!

I am sorry if it comes off the wrong way, first of all I am not bagging Larcoo, his driving and place win was well deserved and well driven but as for being apart of there crew, i wouldn’t know the Bundy Bashers if i run into them. i simply know the car with signage on it. I follow the comps as a spectator and i know that there have been many arguments simply from placings or what ppl have said during or after an event. It is not worth it. I haven’t seem Bundy Bashers at any comp other then the 3 car but I know that they done exceptionally well to place 4th. I think ppl just need to grow up and realise that these ppl have spent a lot of money and time to come and give you guys entertainment, I don’t believe that any should be bagged at the completion of any comp. New comers will probably guaranteed to make mistakes and are there to learn from seasonal competitors, either from a flat track competitor or a Winch Truck challenger. As Swaffy has pointed out it all comes in hand in hand.

We can all guartetee that there is one person to make comments about others but it seems to be ppl that don’t get there and have a go and compare themselves to the ones that raced, either finished or not.

We are all entitled to an opinion and this is mine.

HAHAHAHAH I think this is all funny. I dont know why use are all whining use arent the one spending all the money an time to maintain there own vehicle to just get a plastic trophy at the end of dominating the field...
There wasn't even a few dollars for the top three placings.
I know this is the first event run an im sure it will only get better so nothing against the event it was good.

The next team in 4th was Bundy Bashers. But to put it in perspective at just how fast these top 3 teams were they were 3 laps behind 3rd. Which is 4 laps behind Larco.

GU Driver
Im sorry but i am a bit disappointed the way your bagging out the Bundy Bashers, Not only did they finish (remember only 8 finished) but they actually finished 4 laps behind Larco NOT 3rd place.

There you go bloke, i simplified it so hopefully you can read it properly next time..
1300655506!!!
And once we get reading sorted lets start on math....

GU Driver
the average lap on the day for the BB was 13.5 minutes to 14. so they only came in about 35-40 minutes behind Larco again not behind 3rd place.

13.5mins x 3 (3rd place) = 40.5mins
13.5mins x 4 (larco) = 54mins

Dont think digsy was trying to run down the bundy bashers, just put it into perspective how good the top 3 went, and how the finish was, not like a tour de france finish...

And just for the record,
BUNDY BASHERS, Bang on effort!!

GU DRIVER, wish i had an extra pair of hands so i could give you four thumbs down!!!!

I think that is enough guys.

This is starting the tarnish what was an event that everyone seemed to enjoy. It has been run and won, and again, congrats not only to the teams that finished, but everyone that had the guts to give it ago.

Let's look forward to how we can get this event better again, if we run it again.

Anyone with any CONSTRUCIVE comments to share, we would be happy to listen to. Feel free to PM Davo, Brad or myelf if you don't want to put it up here.

Hope to see you all in a couple of weeks back at Seeonee for the WTC Round 3.
