help! toyota 94 hilux probs

Post by opindown »

hey to all,
i have done a bit of searching and i am not finding alot in the way of what i am looking for.
OK. I have just bought myself a 94 model dualcab lux, not a bad rig for the price i got it for. now with the price comes the problems.
problem 1.
when i bought it the fan was working and all of a sudden the day after i got it, it stopped! i have had a look for fuses but i cant seem to find one that says fan. all my other cars have had a fan one bar this one.
can anyone point me in the right direction? (this is shit that i want to do myself instead of taking it to a auto lekky and giving it to them and telling them to fix it.

problem 2.
taking forever to start of a morning. (being the first diesel that i have owned i am guessing at glow plugs) also the starter motor is playing up. spinning before it is fully meshed with the flywheel. so i am guessing new starter motor.

thanks in advance

Does it not have an engine driven fan ???
If it doesn't, has been changed and you need to follow the wiring to see what they have done and where the problem is. Have you checked to see that the fan itself is ok ?
IMO put the engine driven fan back on.

Yea, another starter or pull it appart, check/clean it and try again.
Could be full of mud/crap.

I think he means the blower fan in the dash? Does it not work on any of the speeds? Could be either the fan itself or the resistor. Probably get a sparky to check it out.

Starter could have a sticky drive gear. As doug said, probably full of mud. Also something a sparky can help you with, should be much cheaper than a complete new unit.

not 100% sure but should be the same there are a couple of fuses related to the fan on the passenger side right up under the dash. if you remove the glove box you will see them easy enough. hope that helps
