HD steering arm for 80

Post by Cyrel »

Hi I have just bent the steering arm on my 80 for the second time. the first one was replaced with a standard one but now after bending two I was wondering if there are any HDuty ones one the market.

Note It was bent crossing a log but this was cretainly not extream driving.

Would a HD part put to much strain on the rest of the steering system?

Cheers

Superior Engineering make a good one

Although they are very strong, and if you land on it a third time you will be more likely to damage the steering box, or seperate the ball joint causing a loss of steering.
The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.

I hope to see the proto types this weekend at the Hammers. If Billy will let me take and post pictures I will when I get back.

my 2c on the issue is get a HD one.
ive been running the superior one for a while now in my comp truck.
i managed to bend the tie rod end, which is a cheap fix.
but i ran it at tuff truck challenge and only put a minor bend.
on a weekend play truck id be very impressed if you bent one.

the superior ones are very good, im still running it in my comp truck.

im sure locktup will have something good from the sounds of it.

Thanks heaps for the info. looks like I wil get one sent down, It's only dead cash to get another stock rod as I would have paid for the HD one by now and not had to limp home also.

what's up jason?
thanks for telling me about this place.

hi guys, i'm billy and i've been working on h.d. knuckles and arms for the 80 for the past year. i'm a few weeks away from having the first batch of knuckles cast and then they go off to my machinist for fixturing to be made for production machining. hopefully in a couple months i'll have these on the shelf, ready to ship to you guys through locktup4x4.
i'll post up some pics as soon as i get my hands on the test batch.

happy trails mates. :D
