had a bit of a go with the search function but didn't come up with too many reviews.
Anyone using Lanox at all as a rust proofing measure and anti squeak at the same time?
Figured cause it has lanolin in it it'd do both.
Any reviews from people using it or any other recommendations about rust proofing would be great
Yeah was considering fish oil.
Does tend to smell a bit but everything you use tends to stink pretty bad really! But hey i guess it's all gonna have some sort of smell.
I see people talking about lanotec a fair bit though, does it have more lanolin in it then lanox or is it just formulated as a rust preventative better than lanox?
I think lanotec has more Lanolin that lanox. iLanotec is available in a grease form as well as spray. it does tend to smell a little though. Smells like wet sheep

Good for rust protection but horrible for offroad. Need to clean & re-apply regularly. Fathers experience not mine as I wasn't going to argue with the old man . He knew many a fishman that use it on their utes, but anyone who has seen a true fishmans ute will know that cleaning isn't a priority
Not sure. I took the car for a dyno run a couple of weeks (maybe 3-4) after oiling it and guys strapping it down commented that something was fishy about the car.
The smell doesn't bother me, but some people find it a bit too much.
On a plus side, it'll turn your ride into a real pu55y magnet.
Im sponsored by inox.. which is the maker of lanox. it is better than your average crc/wd40 in the fact that it doesnt wash off or dry out. use it all the time. spray the chassis ect. everytime after i wash it. Wd is good for putting handlebar grips on though as it allows them to slide on easy then when it dries out they wont budge.. wouldnt use lanox for that though lol.. could end in disaster

I havent had any issues with sand although i dont do alot of sand work.. i have found it is extremely good in muddy conditions though.. even just plain inox.. it prevents the mud from sticking, water getting in electrics ect. it does tend to cause the dust to stick a bit but nothing a bit of truckwash wont clean up. usually i apply it straight after washing so it gets a bit of time to soak in before it gets dirty again, also put plenty of it on the shock shafts ect. found it helps the seals last alot longer. it is good being able to use as much as i want but i even used it back before i was sponsored by them. i also sprayed my chassis with a proper lanolin based chassis paint when the car was also stripped back after all the bracing/suspension mounts had been welded up although im hoping that with the regular lanox coatings i wont have to re-do that for a while. its also great stuff for the boat trailer as well

Canola oil in the can, sh!t absorbs into the metal, creeps like a mofo, is clean, green and renewable, stops squeaks, and of course prevents rust and moisture.
Cheap as chips too!!!!!

Good call, yeah i was at my local hardware store a few weeks ago and on the bargain bench was 4ltrs of Lanox for $40, it even still had the original price tag of $98.99 on it so yeah i bought it!
We used to use lanotec on the quads at the prawn farm I worked at, new bikes were striped right down, drilled holes in the frame and filled and pluged them, sprayed EVERYTHING and washed / resprayed every service and topped the frame up at 6 months. Seemed to work well considering the environment, only time they got bad is if a pondy took one for a swim and didn't tell us All the nuts and bolts also came off and we used the grease stuff on them otherwise a month in and you couldn't undo a thing on them

i use lanolin spray (cant remember brand but can get it from supercheap in a pump pack spray bottle) on my GQ - made a mess. I know it was being protected quite well but it looked horrid - was constantly dirty. I then read the instructions and it said you're meant to wipe off the excess....whoops. lol
On the JK, I thoroughly cleaned and repainted the underbody with rattle can black...wattyl kill rust. I figure, this is my chance to make sure it is done properly. Then i used Lanox (by Inox) only around welds, seams and on bolts. It didn't have anything stick to it and it SEEMS to have done its job as after 12 months and a beach run with a half arsed clean there's no "Mopar Orange" except where the paint has been scraped off. Rather than go temporary I have gone a little more hardcore and started applying valvoline tectyl 506 in the harsher areas underneath.
Am already regretting it. When you don't live on the beach I am thinking temporary protection which you can easily hose off is better coupled with decent paint and and giving it a really good clean with soft, fresh water afterwards. Especially with modern vehicles which typically are better designed in the way of water drainage and panel pressings which minimises the opportunity for rust to develop quickly...i take the view that preventing it long term is not possible and is pointless as vehicles will soon be no good for road use after 10 yrs anyway.
hahaha well driving in the ocean is probably just a bad idea to start with isn't it?
Call me crazy but i've decided to give the lanox a go, so far it seems to go on really wet (as in it's not tacky or nothing) but once you give it time to drip away it seemed to coat quite well!
I've been up the beach on the weekend, just gotta hose off the thing this afternoon and see if it all comes off or if the shit sticks
alrighty hosed off the car last night and even thou some of the sand was stuck to it up inside the guards, it came right off quite well!
So looks like it coats quite well but doesn't let the sand sink right in cause it's not a really thick sticky coat.
I'll let you know in 5 years if the cars rusts apart thou
