'Rockcrawler' panhards ADR compliant????

Post by BadMav »

Hi all, I'm posting this for my Brother IL.

He got a letter in the mail the day he transferred registration on his 100 series. Had to pull out the lift and tyres (even though it passed every test with flying colours???) The lift kit had been in it for a while (a long while) and we swapped everything bar the 'Rockcrawler' adjustable panhards as the crush tube in the chassis end of the rear one is seized solid on the bolt. Conveniently the DOT guy doesn't know if they are ADR compliant or not. This didn't sit right with me as this guy is meant to be a professional who's inspecting cars for road-worthiness and can't even tell if an adjustable panhard rod is ADR compliant. He said, however that he would pass it if he could either provide documentation on the ADR approval or have it inspected and engineer approved.

So anyway does anyone know if they are ADR approved, if so where to get the relevant documents or will he need to have the panhard engineered?

Cheers, Rowen

As far as I am aware adjustable panhard is not legal & you would have to have an Engineer sign off on it. However a call to Superior Eng may clear that up as they sell them.

It's strange though I had to put adjustables on to get mine through a roadworthy (go figure?) They are actual Superior Engineering branded though.

I think you will find that anything coming from superior will have a little yellow sticker saying something like off road use only.

Not saying that it wouldn't meet ADR approval its just too much trouble no doubt.

Yeah no doubt as the adjustables are waaaay bigger and more robust than the puny stocko ones. As I said the guy who did my roadie, 12 months ago, made me put them on.
