Long Range Tank Protection

I have a 145lt long range tank in the back ofmy lwb Patrol and over the years I have been slowly modifying it when out on the track....

The modifications have reduced fuel capacity by a few litres I am sure and it has started to weep.....not drip but a very slight weep from one of the seams. Now I am going to get the weep fixed but what have others done to protect their lr tanks from damaged when out on the tracks?

I also have a long range tank in my GQ, but I have to say that the towbar copped most hits and prevented the tank from being damaged. Having a 5" lift also helps.

For the weep, just get a GOOD 2 part epoxy tank repairer. Make sure you clean the tank around the repair really well. Back to bare metal and then some, roughen it up really well. This was the easiest way I could fix a weep in my LRA tank. I was sceptical it would work, but not a drop in 6 months, and I always fill both tanks and cycle the fuel through both, so it doesnt sit dry.
