on td42 does an engine oil cooler benefit the motor in anyway? disadvantages and advantages?

It already has one in behind the oil filters. It is cooled by the engine water. This is a good place for a road going truck as it ensures the oil remains at its operating temperature and wont get too cold in winter.

Comp truck engine is a different story.

sorry i should have rephrased that.. when i said oil cooler i meant front mount cooler... mine is a comp truck setup.. while i have motor out was just considering other options while everything is easy to work on. :)

well i've got one fitted to my turbo td42, mostly cause it came with the engine.
It still gets hot under load and all that kind of stuff but i could only imagine it'd help in some way keep the oil at a cooler temperature?
Any oil cooler guru's got a better answer than that dribble?
