I got a bj42 swb out the back that's gonna get the ute cab.
The orange one is just another 40 that's gonna be for sale when i'm happy with it.
Also mate, herd that 60 springs will work too but I haven't run a tape measure across anything yet.
Just check the spring shackel holes on your 40 then you know if your chasing 55 springs or 60. the later 40's have the larger shackle holes.
When you start ya better post up. I'm thinkin about posting a build thread soon. :fist:

Now all i need to do is buy my own set of these rims and tyres then move and improve suspension set up a bit.

This is how the truck stands today. I have borrowed these rims and tyres from a mate for my wedding last weekend ( all grooms men need to go in a Shorty ) and now i am in love just have to explain to the boss why we really need a new set of 35's and the old ones need to go storage.

Thanks Chris

Yeah centralise that rear wheel in relation to the tray & that would look perfect I reckon.

Thanks fellas.
The plans are to lift it slightly more and relocate the rear diff back, coils would be the go just have to plan this properly and get it done. Has anyone seen the system Rhyno buggy is selling?

I have a complete 60 with power steering an A/C to remove and relocate to the 40.
It also has a front airlocker and PTO winch , i am going to recover the airlocker but sell the PTO.

Thanks Chris.

Shorty45, I freaking love it. Can't wait to start mine. Picking up my 55 springs this arvo, then installing them and the lengthened tail shaft on the weekend. Then its bobbing time :D

How about you 2Jays? Finished yet :finger:

Take some pick's of your rig with the standard springs in , then take the same shot with the 55 springs. This will show just how much more wheelbase you will acheive.

I have had no time what so ever to work on this thing and now that i have returned the rims and tyres to my mate it looks sad... Black rims with worn 35 Wranglers dont look anything like bling and claws.

55 Spring swap with reversed rear hangers will give about 100mm in extra wheelbase. The mod is very common and well documented.

Pics of your ute? :finger:

Just bought myself another 45 and scored a rear tub in good nick. No i'm unsure if I want to do the ute conversion on the 40, or the bobbed tray conversion on the 45. hmmmm

I do like the look of this bad boy.

Yeah thats the go mate. stupid place for a steering wheel thou..
The ute lid on a 40 still looks pretty good but can't beat the extended wheel base look. When can i come visit your 40 junkyard?
i need tray and a second ute lid. got a 6 pack of coke for ya

I couldn't find any 45 tops worth salvaging unfortunately. All the good ones have been taken it seems and replaced with dented/rusted ones.

Plenty of trays but only 1 good quality 'tub' style one that I could see and its mine :P

Also 3jays, you don't happen to have or know of a rear mounted tank for a 45 anywhere?

Here's a few of my mates old rig. We built this beast over about a month on weekends. The cab is fully welded in and smoothed into the shorty body.

Tidy looking truck you built there. any chance he'd put a build thread up for it??
Droopz nothing bruss, they were all under seat or under cab ones. Just fit something from another toyota. Maybe a 60 or run a fuel cell in the tray. The diesel 45's are mounted under the cab but i guess you already knew that.

Hey there fellas.
Cant really see it in the pic but I have one of the fuel tanks that sit in the chase rails right at the back under the tray.( factory / aftermarket option 30 years ago )
I found it off this site just put a wanted add up.

I did find 2 up here in N.T but one was busted up bad and the other the bloddy aprentise had put both forks from the fork lift straight through.

msg me if you want to swing around and have a look at how it fits.
