TD 42 AUTO
TD 42 AUTO
Anyone ever seen one off road. I have an opprtunity to put one in when I change to the diesel, but certainly would appreciate any comments about a diesel with automatic. Will also turbo charge in due course as well. I run 35 inch claws off road & twin lockers so i wonder if it would handle it? Do they have any problems?
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance

I have a GQ Auto TD42..
great in stock form, larger tires require gearing quick smart. Autos are around $3500-4000 to rebuild.
If your turboing it, go with the auto, but go with Rockhoppers straight away, slimey downhills are eye opening, usually called a toboggan ride...
Red Rover wrote:good, BUT 4.6 no good for 285's for on road as the claws are the off road play tyres, so the 4.3's are a good comparmise. A mate has a TD42 turbo with 1000 fbt/lb of torgue with 4.3's and his goes good, but is a manual
You do lose some neddies with the auto, its natural. but yea in slow stuff, no problems with stalling, or issues with clutches shitting themselves... or shit in the clutch when you hit the clutch in a creek or water etc.
Im with you, 4.3's will work just good.. if I can ever get them

Yup, nissan forcing you into the lesser car the 3.0. fools, they are losing out on such a large amount of $$..
It could be done, but wouldnt be cheap.. I'd guess $10k all up.
talk to some of the better 4wd places in your area that do mods

I would have thought a GQ auto would nearly bolt straight in.

JK 4door Rubicon, currently 4 Sale :(
It's a Jeep thing, I don't understand........

It would be this easy. Same motor and gear box in the GU compared to the GQ. So there is no reason why it want fit. AUTO and Manual have the same overall lenght from fan to handbrake. Just need to get the auto interior trim also.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
