mk glow plug relay??

Post by Turbo Tonka »

hi all,not normally in the nissan section but i have just brought my dads car back to town for a mate to buy.problem is it wont glow, light comes on in cab etc but it just will not go.to get it to start when its cold of course you just have to quickly jump a wire from battery over to the glow rail.i dont want to keep doing this and wreck things

the plugs are only a year or so old and still look good,i dont have a test light here at the moment but am guessing the relays gone.Where are people buying them and how much or can a normal relay be wired up to a push button in the cab???ALSO its for a sd33t so 12v sorry

any help would be great

Been down this road recently mate, but on a GU 4.2. The relay can be prised apart if you work at it. Mine had a broken wire in it- soldered it up. Also, the indicator light on the dash gets its power from a different source to the glow plug rail!

turns out after my post i used my old camp fluro as a test light  chased a few wires, discovered the relay was working properly and putting power out but as Mr Green off here discovered when he rocked up once you plugged the rail in the load would drop the 12v out of the relay.followed it back through all plugs and links, turns out it was connected barely/very poorly at the battery. Some new crimps on the wires, connected to battery properly annd it works perfect.
