Audio amp location in series2 4runner?
Looking to put my audio amp in my 93 4runner, its a largish amp.
just wondering if anyone has done this and where they put it? Ive thought of a few spots to mount it, but wondering if there are any better ideas floating around. Finding it difficult to think of somewhere to put it so its concealed.

Re: Audio amp location in series2 4runner?
hey, i bought a 91 surf last year with full audio already installed and had a 4channel alpine v12 amp mounted on the roof over the the rear cargo area and 15in drop down tv between the front seats for the rear passengers. theres ribbing across the roof from side to side. mine was screwed to to this using short screws (as not to go though roof skin) so i reused this setup when i remounted the system. another way would to be get alloy bar and do a simular setup keeps everything up high and i found slighttly harder for people to spot as they are looking into the bottom half of the car tinting help me too. help this helps
Re: Audio amp location in series2 4runner?
Thanks. That certainly does help. I thought about roof mounting it, but was worried about piercing the roof.
If anyone else knows of other mounting area's, please feel free to advise.

Im not sure dude. I have the same problem. I cant seem to find anywhere convenient to put mine, the roof would be good but it sounds like a fair trouble.
Theres surely a better solution

Re: Audio amp location in series2 4runner?
i have one under my passenger front seat but i get bit worried when i come to deepish mud and water im looking to relocate mine
Re: Audio amp location in series2 4runner?
I just fixed mine to the rear of the back seat. If you're worried about it being visible, sling some black cotton over it or something, something that will let it breath. Won't see it through the windows.

Re: Audio amp location in series2 4runner?
hi mate on my 80 series in back cargo area i roof mounted i had cargo barrier mounts,i just got aluminum angle say 20mmby 20mm bolted it to mounts, got 12mm mdf or plywood, cut it to slot in across roof, bolt it to angleline , amp, 4 6x9 speakers etc, good to screw in a say 30mm by30mm bit of wood across back length of ply so it doesnt wobble on bumps i put door on front and cover on back screwed in back cover on the 30b30 wood, just measure twice as u go,glued felt cover grey nice finish its easy,my mate done one as well on his 80 series he used boltsholes for the handle that were there in cargo area although no handles were installed [ DX model], the bolt holes were there behind roof lining , yours might have some, wire through bottom channels up to rear side window up to roof mounted amp. so yeah mate id say roofmount you wont regret it.
Re: Audio amp location in series2 4runner?
hey mate i mounted to the back of my seat there is a screw already in the back of the seat which i used as it is a solid mout and i just tech screwed the other three works fine for me. as for not seeing it well if they see your sub the will know there is an amp as well
Re: Audio amp location in series2 4runner?
I just mounted the amp to the top of the sub box. Wont hurt the amp or the sub and ensures that it wont be getting wet in any water crossings that happen to seep through the doors....
Another spot would be to the back of your rear seats maybe?! THought about under the passenger seat floor space but didnt for the above reason. Or like someone else mentioned, mount it to the ceiling right in front of your rear wiper cover.. You'll be able to hide the cables then and wont be easily spotted except for you in the rear view mirror every time you look back!

Re: Audio amp location in series2 4runner?
All very good points. Thanks for the input.
I think ill pass on mounting under a seat, as some have said - would create problems during water crossings.
Back of the rear seat is a possibility, however, when going away i always fold the rear seats flat. Such a good feature of the cars, as it increased cargo room dramatically. perhaps this mount with a box to protect the amp would work.
Other than that, the roof mount sounds like the way to go. bit more work, but then its out of sight out of mind.
