im after some info on what options i have to replace my cv's with stronger ones in my gq. I know there are cals and the option of gu front end. Are there any other options? Thanks any info would be great.

i went gu front mate ,you get bigger,better brakes as well as stronger cv,s
and more stability from wider wheel track.

I run Yuri treated Cvs in mine as i keep breaking Cvs on 37s when in comp. Never break standard ones on 35s though.
I havent broken them yet, but they havent done much work or a comp yet either.
Ill let you know how they go once ive comped them. if i dont break any in a comp they are good. If i do, then you need to go a full upgrade.

have run stock, yuris, garners and GU between my patrol and the spiderman car. have given both a very hard time on 40" stickies. Yuri's held up ok, getting a dozen good trips out of them, but both ended up breaking. Smashed a Garner within 5 mins, so dont really rate them. Have heard others who have had better luck. And as for GU, have run it in the front of the patrol for years, and have only ever snapped a stub axle once at TT. If you can get your hands on a cheap GU, in my opinion, it is the way to go. If not, spend the money and go Cals

I broke 7 Yuri's in about 2 year's, had a pair of Garners in there for 2 years, Destroyed the long side and the short side twisted the axle but the CV is fine and now a spare. Mind you when I broke the cv I also torn the H260 pinion out of the rear and was in 3rd gear full noise trying too drive/jumping up a rock face.

I have had Garner CVs in my Rangie for 4 years with TSLs full of water, have broken everything else except a CV
I rate Garners CVs very high.

For starters, don't use someone elses forum account, becuase it makes that person look like an idiot (I do have respect for your father). About the CV, if the CV is going to break in 5 minutes, its not a heat-treatment problem, or a driver problem, obviously a faulty CV. All it would have taken was one phone call to sort the problem out, instead of getting on the net and saying that you smashed it in 5 minutes. I've seen the opposition break in worse ways than mentioned, and it didn't last 5 minutes, it didn't even do 2 foot, but I never went on the net and bagged them out.
Tell the young bloke to buy Yuri CV's, thats fine with me, for starters Yuri won't be able to supply them. When he gets a price, he won't be able to afford to buy them and plus that, when he can afford to buy them and breaks them, I will still sell him a set (Make sure you keep my number).
I hope the next set doesn't break in 5 minutes. There is another 8 sets going out this week, theres nearly 600 CV's out there with my name on them. Lost count of the second hand ones I do for people.

i have heard of cal offraod and yuri cv,s but have never heard of garner cv,s who sells them and how much are they ? are they a chromo cv ?
im looking to upgrade the cv,s in my gq diff .

Sorry Mick, didn't mean to upset you, or bag your product. Just giving feedback from our experiences with patrol gear. As i said, i broke 3 Yuris over the course of a dozen trips, half a dozen stocks, and one of yours. I wasn't concerned about warrenty, coz I was running big tyres, sticky compound, and pushing the car quite hard. everything can break if it is mistreated..Longfields, Cals, Yuris, Garniers and stock ones...what you need to decide is what is the most reliable out of what you can afford..
i have been selling and using Garner/HTE CVs for a few years now and have not had a single claim back on any..
I am sending out my first set of GU ones this week(hadnt really had the need for them yet as most are happy with the GU diff in standard form) so will be interested to see how they go...the guy who bought them has actually broken a few stock GU ones so it should be a good test

I had a set done at haultech a few years back for my MQ and i never managed to break them including at tuff truck. Then sold the car. That was running 39.5x16 claws...... Are the ones Mick Garner is doing the same ones???
If so im shitty i didnt know Mick was still doing them cause i would of come to haultech / Mick for a set before asking Yuri. I only bought Yuris as i thought he was the only bloke doing treated re-inforced Cvs....
O well, see how Yuris hold up, if they break they break, if not then kewl i guess....
