Piglet thats a bit of a big call. When the only other person we know of doing them is Heath. Sorta insinuates that he doesnt do them rite.
Seems to have made some reliable installs so far. Thats not to say Glenn isn't doing a good job either. Just this is the first time he has been mentioned.
Sorry didnt want to tread on anyones toes.by saying, If you want it done rite give grinna a call.( I should have said see the experts, like Heath , & Grinner has been doing them for some time aswell.)
I was just trying to say ,If you are going to get a job done, go to the people who have done it before.people who have found out what the issues are by testing them under extreme situations. & rectafied any issue that might arrise.
people like Heath & Grinner (& im sure theres a few others that have been down this track) have learnt it & are willing to help & or just advise. A DURAMAX CAN BE A BIG OUTLAY, SO GET IT RITE THE FIRST TIME.
I wish I could have one (think ill ask santa)
Yes Glenn has done at least one that I know of (his own), but that was with a 4l80 gearbox not the allison, and he was getting a bit of help off Heath during the process.
I am also now doing Duramax conversions aswell, As heath does not have the time to do them, He is just a parts supplier now. I have done 2 trucks together with heath to learn all the tricks.

I think Heath is the one to talk to about td42 reliability, pretty sure he spent about 20 - 30k on one and it still ended up blown up. Not really sure on the details though.
Again Swafftec is a business man so don't ring him just for free tips... but he has a TD4.2 that is double nominated in every Coopers Rally RND this year and last, Mud Bulls, MayDay - won both deisel and petrol Mod OUTRIGHT at Super Rally X!
But he is very switched on with TD42 internals. - None up this way that he has built have blown up (internally modded ones) and there are 3 TD42s out of his shop pushing 350rwhp.
If you're current shop can't get them to handle this HP then they obviously aren't doing something right. 2 complete WINNING seasons on Swafftec Motor indicates that it's the goods. And maybe you should be looking elsewhere to get you're motor done?

Now all this said - Duramax =
If I had the coin I too would be dropping my GU in tomorrow!
So So So cool - and I think 35G for drive in drive out is pretty good!
