few highsteer questions
hey guys.
im about to do a highsteer setup in the hilux (93) before i go order stuff i need to know...
1, is it cheaper to buy arms and shocks from the states? i know they are alot cheaper but not taking into account freight tax ect has anyone ordered thiers with any luck or should i just go with locktup or similar?
2, can i get arms off another car that are the same lenth (say patrol or cruiser) saving me from buying them new at all?
3, im going to be making my own drop front hanger and just wondering if i can use standard greasable pins? will they be strong enough or do i need to use these ones?
thanks for your input.

Re: few highsteer questions
If you are only buying the high steer arms, get them straight from TG. They are now doing USPS Priority Flate Rate International Shipping boxes for $US 40-50. Can also get your ends and pitman arm as well.
Not sure about shocks though, maybe try a freight forwarding company?

Re: few highsteer questions
ive had a look at trialgear website and i can get
rhd highsteer kit, u-bolt flip, power steering mount bracket, blistiens, and shock hoops for 516 bucks u.s thats about 570 aust
from locktup this would cost 1799 aus unless i went for the ruf kit which has procomp shocks which i dont want and hanger which i dont need and still have to buy ubolt flip aswell,
i just want to know if anyones ordered from here directly before (surely someone has!) what i am looking at for tax and freight, insurance, good to deal with? and is it worth the pain in my ass...how long it took to arrive ect. surely this is the cheapest option.

Re: few highsteer questions
tax wont be a problem until the product cost goes over a Grand then they will look at it in customs

Re: few highsteer questions
Last time I enquired about shipping with TG the freight was very expensive, making it cheaper to buy through Locktup. However, they have changed their shipping policy to include UPS and USPS and the flat rate boxes, possibly making it worthwhile. Just email for a shipping quote.YN67highlux wrote:ive had a look at trialgear website and i can get

The only thing you lose out on with this way is the ease of warranty claims with Locktup.
Re: few highsteer questions
UPS is alot dearer then USPS. I bought my Bilsteins from Down South Motorsport (whthunter on ebay) US$149 + $90 postage, much cheaper then local.
Also try Lowrange offroad for your other parts to compare. A mate bought a heap of gear from them, and was very happy.

Re: few highsteer questions
I bought all my high steer stuff and longfields direct off Trailgear, and had no problems at all.
