sd25 to td27

Post by d21oncrack »

hey guys im new to this site and am just searching a bit of help

i have an 86 d21 navara 4x4 manual its an sd25 engine
if anyone knows anything about this engine they know its the slowest thing you will ever drive and is useless uphill

i just wanted to know how hard it is to put a td27 engine in it to give it a little more umph.

if its an easy conversion
estimate prices on a second hand td27
anything else that would have to be done to complete it like different gearbox.......

ive heard that the one i have has the same bellhousing as the td27 which would make it a lil easier

any info on it would be a great help

thanks fellas

Same gearbox, FS5W71C, different bellhousing. You will need, engine and TD27 bellhousing at the least, but easiest if you get a fan-to-transfer case complete package with loom (starter motor on opposite side). For one of these complete packages, $500-$1000 depending on KMs, location, condition. Good luck finding a bellhousing on its own for a reasonable price.

One of the easiest swaps possible provided you have all the mentioned bits.

Only about hmm, 15% maximum improvement in doing the swap over the SD25, the biggest pro is that the TD27 is a better motor to turbocharge.
