ARB endless air for 1HDT 80 series

Post by TheBigBoy »

Gday guys. Well my arb compressor has crapped itself. SO no lockers currently. Ive been looking around at the endless air kits and cant seem to find which kit is right for my 80 series 1HDT. They either say for 1HZ or 1HDFTE. ???

Any other brands/reports out there that are cheaper and just as good. I know I could go get an ac compressor and do it for half the price. But I cant be bothered mounting it, tensioner, right size belt etc etc...

You want the kit to suit a 1HZ 80 series. It will be the same setup as your 1HD-T. They are different from the 75 series in the length of the snout on the compressor. The FTE runs a multi groove flat type belt.

I have heard that the endless brackets are a bit light on and prone to cracking. Your easiest option is to buy their kit and beef it up a bit. I fabricated my own for my 75 and it is very challenging, but the 80 has a fair bit more space.

If you paid someone to fabricate it for you on an hourly rate it would cost you a lot more than what endless charge.

Wouldn't the kit I mentioned above, from the Endless Air site to suit the 80 series factory turbo diesel, work with his 80 series, or is the factory turbo diesel the FTE?

Sorry, I was looking at ebay and it says arb tjm endless air etc etc... Got confused when typing. There is a very big price difference between the 1hz and the 1hdfte on ebay for the complete set up. Just wanted to know which 1 would work best for me. I can get a new arb compressor for $260. What would you do? endless air or arb compressor?

Yes Simon that would work, in fact I would bet that the kit for the 1HZ and 1HD-T are exactly the same. It is not the 1HD-FTE as it runs a serpentine belt. What I was trying to say is that he wants one for the 1H series engines in an 80, not the 75 as they are different. The FTE is different again.

The ARB compressor will not hold a candle to an endless air setup. Check out the comparison 4wd Monthly did on them. I can't remember the exact output of the ARB but it is something like less than a quarter of the Endless type. If you want good output and can afford it, go the endless. Mine is outstanding and I run rattles guns etc off it all the time.

So the ebay kit for the HZJ is $690 and says 7cfm at 100psi/200 rpm
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Air-compressor-A ... 45f406f153" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The HDT kit is $960

Endless air is say 8cfm at 100psi/200rpm

What do you think of the ebay kit. Is anyone running them? Any good or crap??

I also looked at just buying the arb mini compressor (cksa12) for my lockers and getting a endless air system (incase 1 fails).

Anyone got a spare arb compressor laying around?
