Front air locker on an 06 Lux.

Post by 07luxurious »

So i have front and rear ARB air lockers on my 2006 SR Hilux ute,

Since last time i used them, about a week ago, i have noticed that the front locker will only egage if the rear one is already locked.

90% of the time i choose to use the front locker the back is in anyway, however it is just one of those niggling issues.

Curious as to if its a wiring cross over issue or maybe something more complex???

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

Im pretty sure its a safety thing with the wiring. Front will only lock in, if the rear is On.

Get someone to clarify, but Im pretty sure Swtich 1 (Rear locker) has to be on, for Switch 2 (front locker) to work. People with only a front locker have it plug into Switch 1.

You can only turn the front on once was the back is on, you can tell by the backlit switch but maybe you have a different switch.

Correct, the factory ARB wiring needs the rear locker to be engaged for the front to work.

It is a very easy fix to get around this problem, I have rewired many to work independently of each other.

Pretty sure thats how they are all wired. When I worked at ARB as a fitter, we always wired them so the front could only be activated with when the rear was engaged. There are ways around this though.

With the strength issues the hilux IFS front diff has I would recommend leaving it as is.

What strength issues? we are talking bout the current 8" IFS diff which is alot stronger than the previous 7.5" IFS diff which had numerous strength issues.

I havent heard of anyone blowing a current hilux front diff yet....cv's yes, but not the diff itself.

Thats how they are configured. However if you want indidual control you can change the wiring to have one or the other on.

Just a simple matter of changing the wirng.

Just piggy back the power feed wire from switch 1 and give it to switch 2. Just look at the wiring diagrahm that came with the lockers.
