sas conversion on my sr5 lux questions

Post by Oldhenry »

Just wondering if anyone knows will my brake calipers of my ifs front fit the solid axle that im throwing under my lux. im in the middle of rebuilding the swivel hubs and getting everything ready and i was looking at the brakes and wondering what would be interchangable as all my ifs gear is all but 4 months old. Also i will be chassing a diff centre for the diff as the centre that i have is the wrong ratio so if anyone knows anyone with one they dont want it needs to be geared for a 2.8 diesel.
thanks for a any help on these subjets

It's a 95 model so the same as your surf I suppose. I have just had the calipers overhauled so that's why I want to use them. Just along ad they fit the other rotors that are on the diff I suppose.
Pretty wild surf u have there mate.

95 was the change over year, so if yours looks like Jcas24's then it's a 130 series body and won't have ABS, etc. and your calipers would be same as V6 4Runner/after 92 Surf/early 80 series (45mm pistons x 4 per caliper)
If not you have a 185 series body and is not as simple to do since it's the same running gear as a 90 series Prado.

I'm guessing you will need to do a "wide track" conversion on the hilux front diff as well to get the same width front & rear ?
This uses your IFS hubs with 60 series rotors and a 32mm?? spacer on the hub to put the rotor in the correct position to suit your calipers.

This is what I did on mine.

ahhhh ok the diff that im using for some reason already had the sr5 auto locking hubs but no spacers and i think its just a normal hilux rotor. i have some wheel spacers which my brother had lying round which i was goin to use to widen the track. ill have a look at what the other calipers look like and if there in good condition i might just use them, if not ill do what u said and get some 60 series rotors. my car doesnt have abs so im guessing its the older one.

Just so you know,
Wheel spacers - illegal
Rotor spacers - legal

If you want to get it engineered you will need to go the rotor spacer route.
