I went to buy a water pump and retured with a 55 series

have been toying with the idea of a 55 on a 80 chassis with either a 1hdfte or duramax 6.6 diesel
my 80 is just way too boring
look forward to seeing the results
inspire me
now i just need to find a half decent body

i need to finish another project first but as long as the chassie is not bent in the 80 im going to get the tape measure out and see if i can fit all the running gear so really just re shell it with the 55 body.

Ill start a build thread when i start on the 55. It would make a great family 4wd and tow rig i rekon.

Wont start untill all other projects are finished first.

mate where there is a will there is a way
it will fit
i have a 1980 hilux body on one
the 55 should be easier
only thing will be running big rubber with the rear arches no metal to chop b4 you get to the door
also some kind of flare will be required on the rear because of the track increase

Nice i like the look of that

I know i can make it fit im talking about the engine gear box etc im hoping they will all fit i have a spare 350 here i could use if need a shorter motor.

I know what im in for i have done it all before My other 4b is a 91 hilux cab and bobbed tub on a 91 80 chassie with a 350 chev and runs 38s to the stanard bump stops with no suspension lift. the wheel base of the 80 is longer than the 55 so that will help with the rear doors etc.

PM sent most things are for sale if the price is right havig said that im not trying to sell the 55 it is differet to the norm and i like that.

if it dosnt end up on the 80 chassie it will end up as a hot rod i have bought a 2wd hilux to put the 55 body on that rolling chassie but the 80 purchase has swayed my thinking.

Well i wanted to buy a 60 series for the 5 speed to put in my truck Bob then wreck the rest out. While at the local auto shop i mentioned this and that conversation has led me to buying 2 x 5 speed 60s, a 350 chev powered 45 and this very tidy for it age 1966 55 series landcruiser.
